Pros
"What I like about Symantec Data Loss Prevention is the technical support it provides. It's good.""The dashboard, management section, and reporting are good.""It can prevent copying and encoding of HTTP data to various sites like Google, and Webex.""An excellent solution for data classification.""The incident response options and reporting features are particularly strong, with the inclusion of Incident Classification Assessment (ICA) for integrated reporting.""The dashboard, management section, and reporting are good.""Among the many features, I like the comprehensive support for features across network stages and email. Customers are very happy with its prevention capabilities, as there is no delay in action when new policies are applied. Regarding incident response abilities, it is helpful, although we receive about 10%-20% false positives.""The product helps with blocking sensitive data transmission and permission management."

"We use Trend Micro mainly to monitor user activities, such as tracking the websites they visit and purchase items. Additionally, we focus on identifying and addressing antivirus threats. We used to explore a feature related to proxy but decided against it as an enterprise solution wasn't readily available for us. Our primary use of Trend Micro revolves around end-user security. Integration with Active Directory has proven beneficial, allowing us to easily push updates or changes directly from the console.""None of the Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention features worked well, but the solution had a straightforward setup.""Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention is a reliable product.""We are able to check the log and keep records.""We find the initial setup to be very easy.""The basic setup, like configuring servers or deploying the SaaS platform and agent implementation, is straightforward.""The solution's initial setup process was straightforward.""The product's initial setup phase was easy."

Cons
"In a majority of cases, most of the companies are using DLP for endpoint sessions, where you have a user that might be communicating information outside of the company. However, they forget there are actual interfaces that can directly communicate with either the database or other files within the data center that uses end-to-end encryption. In those cases, you might need things like your DLP to be able to monitor and block some of that. The solution needs to catch information communicated through the data center on the server-side.""We want a more proactive reporting structure.""I would like for the administrator management interface to improve. It's kind of old and slow. Updating it would make this solution better.""That fine tuning has to be done for the customer as well as the vendor. So if I take Symantec DLP, we have to have some final fine tuning but we may need some time developing this depending on the customer. This is an area where something can be done to improve the product.""Symantec Data Loss Prevention's AI technology has certain shortcomings where improvements can be made.""The solution could offer improved more informative documentation.""The database is a problem for us, as it's running on Oracle and not everybody likes that.""This product is very powerful but it is very complex, so making it simpler to use would be an improvement."

"Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention is buggy, which is one area for improvement. I also found Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention support horrible, so that's another area for improvement.""Needs a remote login option.""In Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention, there is a need to improve the plug-in manager, as it is an area with shortcomings.""The platform's support structure for government-specific domain requirements could be improved.""Having more features apart from what the product was designed for is what I'd like to see in its next release.""They could improve the product's data loss policies.""Typically, DLP solutions do not cover emails without an additional component, which necessitates a dual-service proposal. Comparatively, on-premises deployments offer more features locally than online or remote deployments, which sometimes face challenges with feature support. This is a common issue with Trend.""Being able to specify an agent list, or client list, to allow support from outside of the organization, would be of benefit to this solution."

    Overview

Keeping sensitive corporate information safe and compliant has never been easy. But today, you’re faced with a totally new set of data protection challenges. Sensitive information is leaving the safety of your corporate network as more employees share files over consumer cloud storage services and access those files on their own mobile devices. The number of targeted cyber attacks continues to grow, as cybercriminals develop effective new methods for defeating traditional security measures and stealing corporate information. And as all of these factors converge, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage corporate information and protect it against loss and theft.

Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) provides a comprehensive approach to information protection that embraces today’s cloud- and mobile-centered realities. With DLP, you can:

    • Discover where data is stored across all of your cloud, mobile, network, endpoint, and storage systems

    • Monitor how data is being used, whether your employees are on or off the network

    • Protect data from being leaked or stolen—no matter where it’s stored or how it’s used

Now more than ever, your data is on the move—whether it’s on a laptop, flash drive, or moving across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructures. At any point along the way, your financial data, customer information, intellectual property, or trade secrets could be lost or stolen. Securing this data is further complicated by several growing risk factors:

Rapidly evolving compliance regulations and mandates, including GDPR
    Continued growth of workforce mobility
Employees using their own mobile devices and consumer apps for work
Rising frequency of advanced persistent threats (APTs) and data breach incidents

To avoid the embarrassment, reputation damage, regulatory fines, and revenue loss, today’s enterprise must be able to identify, track, and secure all confidential data from multiple points within the organisation and in the cloud without impacting employee productivity and performance. In the past, many organisations tried traditional data loss prevention (DLP) solutions but found they were too intrusive, too complex to manage, and too costly to acquire, deploy, and maintain.
