We performed a comparison between IBM Spectrum Scale and Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Software Defined Storage (SDS) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The profile share is a valuable feature."
"Its great servicing high availability. That is what it is used for."
"Technical support has been very helpful. They provide us with pretty good solutions that we can implement moving forward."
"It makes our file system sharing a lot easier, even across different continents. We have had file systems shared across different continents with no performance degradation."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to share files across different platforms."
"Allows us to share files across multiple environments."
"We can have multiple systems within the same file system."
"It is a scalable solution."
"One of the most valuable features is the One-Click Upgrade. When I need to update the system, I do it with one click. This product is amazing because everything is easy to manage, from network management to snapshots."
"In addition to the hyper-converged infrastructure, most of our clients are pleased with Acropolis' built-in replication in terms of the DR setup. Our clients also like Prism Central's advanced management and analytics, and many find Nutanix Flow and playbooks incredibly useful."
"Nutanix Acropolis AOS has very good stability."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"Performing a Nutanix software upgrade is a very simple and non-disruptive process."
"We have had good feedback from our customers about this solution."
"Technical support is okay."
"The level of statistical performance data that it can confirm in real-time is extremely useful. I can see what my VM’s hosts and guests are doing from a single pane of glass and identify issues before they would otherwise become apparent."
"Making it a little easier to add bad file sets would help. There is a transition to how you add storage and how you add a file set, so making that a little smoother would probably be my recommendation."
"The pricing and licensing model for this solution are complex and it is sometimes difficult to explain it to customers."
"Integration with other vendors is not available."
"The solution's pricing could be better."
"I believe there is no graphic user interface, so they should include it."
"It would be helpful if there was a graphical user interface that could walk you through the deployment process. The instructions surrounding setup aren't the best. They need to be more step-by-step."
"The biggest problem is that it is not able to provide block storage."
"They should probably simply the Red Hat implementation portion. This portion was not as straightforward as I would like it to be."
"Nutanix can be a bit complex to understand."
"I would like to see a fuller integration with the public cloud. It would help the user enter the hybrid cloud infrastructure."
"Our client had some old Citrix Xen servers for which there is no direct migration. Nutanix has a move utility for Microsoft Hyper-V clusters or VMware clusters. You can easily migrate them using the move utility, but the Xen clusters cannot be migrated in a simple way. That is the only thing that is lacking, but nowadays, no one uses the Citrix Xen server for their clusters. Everything else is already there. Nutanix keeps on upgrading its hardware's or hypervisor's capability to be able to support new technologies."
"There should be a little more access to Nutanix files."
"We would like to see it support other systems outside of the compute stack from which it was built."
"The technology has a lot of room for improvement. For example, when they want to segment applications in conjunction with NSX, which VMware uses, Acropolis is not compatible with the competitors. The integration in the security layer is not compatible with NSX for the application segmentation that uses VMware."
"In the future, I would like to see multi-tenancy in Nutanix Acropolis AOS."
"The name of the solutions offered by Nutanix does not indicate what the tool does."
