We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"This is a scalable solution. Our customers begin with an initial configuration and later add more servers, memory and other options to meet the demands of increased processing.""We use the solution for DDI.""We find the deduplication and compression features to be most valuable, as well as that of the backup solution inside.""The most valuable features of HPE ConvergedSystem are scalability and resilience.""Most of the HP products I come across are they are easy to install. That's not very complex.""The tool's most valuable features are stability and scalability.""The most valuable features of the solution are the flexibility and the availability of the machines.""The storage, BladeSystems, Virtual Connect, and simplicity with hyper-converged solutions are the most valuable features of this solution."

"The solution has simplified our operations.""Being able to perform upgrades and check the system through the VxRail Manager has been very helpful.""The major advantage is the blueprint. You do not need to separately manage the sand or network part because it all gets virtualized.""VxRail does not require fiber switches or external storage. It's easy to replace and manage. It's centralized management through VxRail Manager.""The updating of the features was one aspect of the solution that made us decide to use it.""This solution optimizes our clients' resources.""This product has given us clear visibility into what we need technology-wise to grow.""There is no in-depth config involved nor third-party needed, saving us time and money."

Cons
"Pricing is an area of concern in the solution where improvements are required.""This is an expensive solution.""The solution needs to add NFS features.""The solution has a complicated front-end.""Perhaps they can work on providing faster allocation of memory or storage.""The interface is not fully integrated with the ESXi, which is something that could be improved.""There is some scope for improvement in support. The response time could be better.""It could be enhanced by improving the built-in backup solution."

More HPE ConvergedSystem Cons →

"The implementation of a VxRail, it's straightforward, but the ongoing utilization, and integration, are where it can start to become difficult if you're not used to doing it.""There is a limitation on the number of nodes.""Right now, it's difficult for a non-technical person to participate in using the product. It could be made more consumer-friendly.""VxRail is a closed system with an out-of-the -box solution approach, it has basic 3 layers, Hardware, Network, Storage, Software, (Virtualizing) Applications. Release notes and improvement tips, patches from the back office, the business units, should be frequent and up to the patches which are coming from different vendors as far as the operating system application and also the technology itself is concerned.""We would like to see integrating with Nutanix. Currently, we are working on integrating the two to see if there is any value in doing so.""It's not really flexible with different use cases.""The agility of the support team to provide you with better solutions should be improved. VxRail also has to be improved in terms of simplicity. Adding a simple node seemed like quite a project.""The only issue which is every now and again is that when you log in it will tell you that there's an issue with VxRail when there actually isn't. All that's required is a refresh or reload. The solution itself works but you may get some bad reports every now and again. Probably once every couple of months; there is no effect to the solution's capabilities."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is good. We have not calculated what hyper-converged infrastructure has brought us but I think there has to be some lower cost for us, compared to the public cloud. Obviously, there would be a lower cost, probably by more than half."
  • "This is an expensive system and not every customer has the kind of budget to support it."
  • "The pricing is sensitive."
  • "This is an expensive solution."
  • "My company has a five year contract for HPE ConvergedSystem. The contracts depend on companies and sometimes it can be three years. The solution is worth its price."
  • "There are some extra costs in addition to the licensing costs for the yearly maintenance from professional third-party services."
  • "The tool's licensing costs are yearly."
  • "The pricing is competitive. Not a major problem. We have a subscription model."
  • More HPE ConvergedSystem Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "There is a permanent vSAN license included since it is required, but vCenter\ESXi host licensing should be validated in the purchase process."
  • "Most of hyper-converged solutions require additional licenses for the virtualization layer (like VMware)."
  • "Be mindful of your storage needs now and for the future."
  • "Compare the VxRail product to Nutanix. Nutanix has more features, but its pricing is higher."
  • "Compare it to what you spent on your last solution."
  • "We most likely pay yearly for support. The cost was justified by now because it stays up and I don't have to constantly open tickets. I probably rebooted the system once or twice. We haven't replaced any discs in the storage, we haven't had to do any disc replacements, so it just runs. You pay a little more but you cut down on the maintenance."
  • "The price is a little bit on the higher side but the system and management are so quick and easy that it's worth it for the customer."
  • "We were expecting Dell EMC to bring us something that would work very quickly and easily, but also be at a reasonable price point, and they did."

    Reviews from Real Users

VxRail is an all-in-one solution: "You don't have to worry too much about the hardware and you don't have to work on integrating a storage device. We instead have this as an all-in-one solution and everything is available as a box."

VxRail is remarkable: “The cover points feature in VxRail is remarkable. It's unique. It has an intervention failover system as well as an automatic failover system, reaching clusters existing in VxRail…

VxRail is a powerful performer: “...VxRail delivers a very high number of IOPS for a hybrid configuration or an all-flash configuration. The processors that are available in the Xeon family are very powerful. They are multi-core with typically 2 gigahertz, 2.4 gigahertz, or higher frequency, so the performance is very much appreciated.”
