We performed a comparison between GitLab and Rally Software based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Enterprise Agile Planning Tools solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The solution's most valuable feature is that it is compatible with GitHub. The product's integration capabilities are sufficient for our small company of 35 people."
"The most valuable features of GitLab are ease of use and highly intuitive UI and performance."
"Key features allow creation of well-presented Wiki that includes ideas, development, and domains."
"GitLab is very useful for pipelines, continuous integration, and continuous deployment. It is also stable."
"The dashboard and interface make it easy to use."
"I like that you can use GitLab as a double-sided solution for both DevOps and version management. It's a good product for working in these two areas, and the user interface makes it easy to understand."
"It speeds up our development, it's faster, safer, and more convenient."
"The SaaS setup is impressive, and it has DAST solutioning."
"CA Agile Central helps the entire organization run like one powerful team."
"Agile Central allows us to log one hundred percent of the work we do and it allows for no hidden work, so teams can't go under the radar with what they're working on."
"Having that view into features and roadmap from product to delivery teams, and where they are going, then execute on."
"My teams uses it for their daily agile management. They describe their user stories and track the progress of their projects."
"CA Agile Central provides visibility into how teams are meeting business objectives."
"When it comes to the valuable features of Rally Software, it excels at burn-down charts, burn-up charts, and road mapping once it's set up. I particularly appreciated the new feature for releases and road mapping, which worked exceptionally well."
"I was able to create epics for our budgeting concerns and it helped me link everything together."
"We can work better and at a higher quality, than we were able to before."
"We have only seen a couple of issues on Gitlab, which we use for building some of the applications."
"As a partner, sometimes it's difficult to get support. They have a really complicated procedure for their support."
"The price of GitLab could improve, it is high."
"The solution should again offer an on-premises deployment option."
"Atlassian offers more products than GitLab. GitLab offers source control management, version control and collaboration between developers. Atlassian offers features on top of this as well as more integration points for developers."
"Even if I say I want some improvement, they will say it is already planned in the first quarter, second quarter, or third quarter. That said, most everything is quite improved already, and they're improving even further still."
"We would like to generate document pages from the sources."
"We'd like to see better integration with the Atlassian ecosystem."
"It requires better scalability for the implementation of the whole suite. We do not use it in that fashion, and visibility is sometimes a problem."
"As it is right now, it does not support automation of the quality assurance process. It just supports manual testing."
"More customization capabilities would be helpful. Providing a little bit more structure around how the system should be set up in terms of the hierarchy structure might be helpful as well."
"It is hard to track the changes. For example, we're in sprint 25, and then we have 26, 27, 28, and 29. Throughout that whole time, we're developing pipelines in Azure, moving to GitHub, creating pipelines, and working with teams. But sometimes, we need to revisit specific decisions made in previous sprints, like pipeline details. Maybe it's in our Azure Wiki, GitHub, or Teams, but it's not always consistent. I wish I could search for all tasks or stories related to that particular effort without needing to know everyone's individual stories or features."
"In terms of improvement, perhaps some more metrics. If they could add some additional, that would be cool."
"More importantly, we are seeing internal challenges from Atlassian because of their highly integrated suite that enables further automation and centralization of activities that are also highly necessary – messaging notifications cued off builds, collaboration on Solution Architecture Documentation, etc."
"I'd like the ability to customize reports without having to incur Professional Services, or having to write my own code GitHub and then implement that as a custom report. That's untenable. It's not sustainable."
"A lot of the features that we would be looking to add, I am learning may not be within Agile Central, but part of another CA tool set."
