We performed a comparison between FlexPod XCS and VxRail based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, NetApp, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and others in Converged Infrastructure."I like the combination of the brands that they decided to include, in terms of its compatibility, e.g., they integrated UCS into this solution."
"It is innovative because it's bare metal and you can customize it easily. This brings a lot of benefits to the solution."
"FlexClone allows you to create copies of volumes in seconds, and without occupying physical space."
"It is pretty flexible. We are able to deploy faster."
"It's a kind of one-stop shop as far as support goes."
"The initial setup is not complex. It is user-friendly since it is a single solution with all the components delivered in one package."
"The solution suits converged infrastructures, where the customer gets a complete system with Cisco servers, NetApp Storage, and Cisco switches."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that there is one call for support."
"The feature that I have found most valuable with VxRail is its upgrade. Because if you talk about the normal ESX process you have to upgrade the firmware, the bios, and you have to manage the compatibility. You have to do a lot of things. But in the case of VxRail, it's a single upgrade, end to end. You simply upload the bundle, click next, it will do some pre-checks, if those pre-checks pass, it will update everything one by one. It will put one ESX in the maintenance and move other VM's to another mode. There is no downtime to the VM's."
"Updating the product has been very easy."
"It is scalable. When you are buying it, you have to buy a minimum of three nodes. After that, if you want to add more nodes, you can buy can buy them. You can also add-on additional compute and storage."
"The low latency and response times and having a virtualized environment within a single computer are valuable. I have no physical elements, and I can optimize or balance my data depending on the sales volume that I have in a specific store."
"The solution is perfect for the lifecycle management of hardware."
"It is the most valuable Software Defined Storage ever to manage all storage workloads, and also offers high availability."
"like VxRail because it's fully integrated. The other hyperconverged solutions are also well integrated. They are all highly similar to each other in that regard. But we prefer VxRail for its physical integrations or lifecycle management. It also has vCenter, which integrates the hardware lifecycle management."
"The initial setup was very easy."
"I'd like to see a little more on the provisioning and the replication piece... Also, I don't want to say analytics are lacking but I'd like to see more analytics."
"I would like to see drag and drop connectivity to Azure and Amazon."
"According to the product managers, there are some new products coming which will address some of our concerns around portability and compliance."
"We would like to see the automation improved because there has been a learning curve having to create the workflows."
"The solution has not reduced our data center costs."
"We don't see the much DR capability within the FlexPod so for that, we have to maintain our own DR capability with DSRM."
"Areas for improvement would be the support for the engineering team, who seem to have no clue when you open a case, the communication with and recognition of resellers, and the documentation, with could be more detailed."
"If they could reduce some of the complexity at the system manager level for ONTAP. I find it gives a lot of flexibility. You can do as much or as little as you want. But to be able to do as little as you want, you do have to do a lot. So, if they could bring that down to a more manageable effort level, that would be nice and simplify it a bit."
"My main issue so far is that the installation created a default datacenter name of "Marvin" and it cannot be changed."
"VxRail could improve by having domain protection."
"Supply chain capabilities are certainly hurting us. We're in the process of placing a large order for more VxRail nodes right now."
"Its price needs to be improved. It is very expensive. NSX should be licensed together. It will make the network virtualization layer more usable. It would be better if they come together in a bundle, not separately."
"The requirements need improvement. Some of the managers of VMs are a little sensitive to where they need to be placed in the environment and what names they need to have. I would like a little more control over that so that it fits into our naming scheme and it fits our organizational structure within vSphere."
"The product could support and have more compliance with other vendors."
"I would like it to tier to the cloud effectively, making sure that cold data can be pushed out to some sort of Bitbucket."
"The UI could be a little more informative."
