We performed a comparison between Axway AMPLIFY Managed File Transfer and MOVEit based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It’s very flexible."
"AMPLIFY has all the essential features for managing file transfer."
"The product is simple for encrypting data transfer of all the assets in our system."
"Axway consolidated all of our communications into one platform, simplifying network and port management. Now, all we have to do is open one port to this application, and we can remove all the firewall rules on that port. It's much more straightforward to manage from a security perspective. We used to rely on an archaic FTP solution, but Axway features SFTP, so it was an improvement security-wise."
"It is an easy-to-use and stable product."
"It makes a logical link between the inbound/outbound transfer, and makes it clearly visible. This is a very important feature for managing transfer with different environments, and it's very helpful in case of troubleshooting."
"Especially at the time of monitoring, it's a nice way to take a look at the script and take a look at run time, which gives enough information for the files that are getting picked or not."
"The most valuable feature of MOVEit is the upload speed."
"MOVEit's best features were the number of options available, like folder creation, and user-friendliness."
"It satisfies our requirements but they don't do new improvements as per the market."
"The convenience of renaming files and using time stamps to segregate them has been very valuable."
"The automation is generally very simple that helps with operational efficiency. Since we mainly created interfaces and scheduled transfers, the tool itself handled the file transfer automation."
"The log findings and troubleshooting on MOVEit are pretty easy. When you go to the logs, it clearly tells you what time a transfer happened, what time it failed, what is the source path, what is the destination path, and what is the failure reason. It's pretty straightforward."
"The renaming and timestamp features are great."
"We only hope that they continue to keep updating the solution and improving the offering. They could always do more updates and releases."
"Improvement in Data Encoding would be very appreciated (I'm thinking of ASCII-EBCDIC, ASCII-ASCII, etc.)."
"The areas in need of improvement are the monitoring and the cut-off management, when needed. Today you have at least two solutions: Buy the other Axway suite, Sentinel, or integrate it into your monitoring system."
"One area of improvement is troubleshooting. When a transfer fails, they provide little information about the login, which makes troubleshooting difficult. Also, file transfer scheduling is primitive. By that, I mean you can't define a complex schedule, like scheduling a job to run at particular hours multiple times in a day."
"Sometimes, the application's embedded databases couldn't perform well for a higher volume of data."
"It is complicated to manage multi-operations, particularly in handling file name changes within file transcripts."
"The initial setup was quite complex."
"Communication can be improved between the product owners and users."
"Since I have to monitor two times a day, it would be nice if they have script templates."
"In future releases, MOVEit could add support for some additional protocols. For example, I don't think they supported the SFTP or FTPS protocols at the time."
"With the new other vendors coming up, they come up with certain features, in addition to the file transfer. But MOVEit does not develop their product. That's why we are looking out for other solutions."
"We have had some challenges. Earlier when we were setting it up, a component called gateway, which runs in the DMV, was not working as expected. It was going down very often. That means most of our vendors were not able to connect using SFTP because that service was down. We had to put in a lot of monitoring to make sure if that goes down, there is some visibility instantaneously so that our system admins can go and do a restart."
"The initial setup is a bit difficult."
"It would be beneficial to include a feature that allows you to hide items and not be locked out if someone has made too many password attempts."
"It takes some time to learn and understand how the solution functions."
