We had an unlimited license agreement with Oracle.

The solution is on the expensive side, but it is not too costly. I would give it a five out of ten in terms of affordability. The cost of Oracle Data Guard is approximately $450,000 per year for my company.

The product is included in the Enterprise Edition license. If we have Enterprise Edition, no additional licensing is required. I rate the pricing a seven out of ten.

There is no set cost for the solution. The cost of the Oracle license will depend on the negotiations with Oracle. The license is costly compared with other database systems. The license includes primary support, patches, and technical support.

It is not a cheap product, but if you look at the price, features, availability, scalability, and maturity, it is a very good product.

We work for a non-profit organization, so we have a discounted rate on licensing and other purchasing agreements.

In some cases, some costumers chose to buy a lot of licenses to have software - at least at first. I'm not happy and okay with some policies of Oracle. In some cases, you have to pay extra money for some features. It's very hard to have access to software directly in comparison to buying some licenses. You can adjust them for some Oracle software, however, if you want to develop or expand your features, it's typically hard to do so in my country. Based on my friend's and colleague's experience, they find it a little bit tricky to use Oracle for buying certain software or getting extra features, and based on my experience, most free and open-source projects are already pretty good.

It's a master of making money! If you want to have everything automated and done smoothly, you have to add additional licenses. They should have more standard licenses without us having to go for additional licenses to get full support. Regarding infrastructure, most of the time the additional costs for uploading systems, alarming the operations, patching the operating system, caring about the shadow data, all of this needs to be maintained as well. So we end up having additional costs and that's why I would advise others to avoid it, if possible.

The pricing of Oracle is average. It's not inexpensive but it's okay.

This is the best solution if you want something similar that's less expensive than Oracle Grid. We pay once per year.

Oracle Data Guard is a free solution. When you apply for Enterprise Manager, it comes for free with the solution. When you apply an enterprise solution to a database, you have to pay. It depends on the connotation of the project and what you need for the protocol.

Oracle Data Guard ensures high availability, data protection, and disaster recovery for enterprise data. Data Guard provides a comprehensive set of services that create, maintain, manage, and monitor one or more standby databases to enable production Oracle databases to survive disasters and data corruptions. Data Guard can be used with traditional backup, restoration, and cluster techniques to provide a high level of data protection and data availability.
