We have moved to the cloud. We must assess the vulnerabilities of the server. Then, we must perform the server hardening procedure of Windows. The impact of the product on our strategies depends on our use cases. The performance depends on the hardware. Generally, the tool performs well. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

I will recommend the tool to others. Whenever people ask us about web servers, we suggest that they use IIS. It is easy to use. We did not have many issues except when we occasionally had to restart the server. I encourage everyone to use the product. Our traffic is not as big. We have no issues with performance. Overall, I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

I give IIS an eight out of ten. We have around 15,000 people using IIS in the organization. We require around three people for IIS maintenance. I recommend IIS to others.

I would rate the overall solution a six out of ten. We have around five to six developers and engineers for the solution’s deployment and maintenance. You can use the solution if your website is not too big or complicated. However, if it is big and complicated, then you need to use Apache or Red Hat. This tool can be used for internal purposes. But if you plan to host a public app, then I wouldn’t recommend the tool.

I give the solution eight out of ten. The IIS service version also depends on the version of the Windows Server. So for example, if you are using the Windows Server 2012, it may have an old version compared to the 2022 Windows Server version. It is the last one since we are also using the 2022 Windows Server operating system, so we are using the latest version 6.0. Most of the time, if it's me who deployed or installed IIS in the first place, I am the one who will maintain it. But if it's another person or another company or its part of the maintenance program, then we will call the other company to do their maintenance tasks. In my experience, I think that if you want to use IIS, you need to develop your application to be fully compatible with IIS. Meaning that, you need to use Microsoft technologies rather than other languages, for example, Java or PHP or other, Python or anything else. Rather than that them, you need to choose .NET technologies so that you will take advantage of the performance and compatibility of the system with your application. This is what I can recommend people to do in order to use IIS. Because when for example, you acquire an application or a solution that wasn't developed initially for IIS, you need to do many tweaks in the applications and the IIS in order to make it run. And sometimes these types of tweaks can cause you problems in the production environment.

We are using this solution because it was recommended for us to use. It is a stable solution. My advice to others is this is a simple-to-use solution and you can find items with ease. Microsoft has good support for its solutions. You can find the information you need from around the world because Microsoft solutions are widely used. If there are problems you can fix them easily from the support online, such as in forums. I rate IIS a nine out of ten.

We chose IIS because most of the applications we use are .NET and are Microsoft technologies that we are using for developing the application, IIS is the most valuable solution for this use case. For first-time users of IIS, they should have some basic knowledge of what an application pool is, websites, and homepage redirections are. I rate IIS a nine out of ten.

Recent versions, especially IIS 10, are very stable. For the stability I highly recommend IIS. On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate IIS as an eight-out-of-ten.

We use the current version of the solution and the on-premises deployment model. We're partners with Microsoft. We generally work with enterprise-level organizations. I'd recommend the solution, but only to those organizations already using Microsoft. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

My advice for anybody who is considering this solution is to go ahead with it. This is a mature product that is suitable for production environment. It competes with the Linux-based web server, which has more features. However, Microsoft is becoming more friendly with the open-source community, so hopefully they will implement more advanced features inside IIS. It seems to me that Microsoft has been evolving the product with one of the main goals to be ease of use. However, I think that they need to focus on handling the biggest load. I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

We use the on-premises deployment model. The solution is stable, it is working, and you can do a lot with this, but it is not my favorite product. I would prefer to use something that was open-source instead. I would rate it seven out of ten.

Application Server
What is an application server and what purpose does it serve? As the years go by, technology becomes more and more complex. Applications are certainly no exception to this phenomenon. As a result, as time passes, the evolution of applications could make it difficult for them to be written and maintained by the organizations that use them. This is where application servers come into play. These servers are located at the midpoint of the data-processing network. The network operating...
