Oracle Java Cloud Service or OpenShift, which do you recommend?

One of the most popular comparisons on IT Central Station is OpenShift vs Oracle Java Cloud Service.

I think this comparison is apples and oranges. OpenShift is orchestration of Docker on RedHat is unique set of applications while Oracle Java Cloud Service is PaaS by Oracle which enables Weblogic deployments on Oracle Cloud.

OpenShift is used to Orchestrate Docker Containers and Oracle Java Cloud Service deploys J2EE server on Oracle Infrastructure. OpenShift licenses are mostly tied to cores it is being run on while Oracle is promoting use of license portability for existing clients.

Overall OpenShift is New Generation tool to orchestrate containers and use Kubernetes for moving and Deploying containerized services. Oracle on other hand is giving PaaS service for existing and new Weblogic clients to move their applications to Oracle cloud seamlessly.

OpenShift is far more competent than Oracle Java Cloud, as is robust, reliable and highly customizable. Its been created by masters.
OpenShift have great GUI and CLI tools allowing developers to deploy, test and delete projects as per their requirement, it also frees up ample time for the operations team to work on production readiness. There are Docker images and Kubernetes templates in it, deployments can be done with ease.
Images are built in one go by the CI/CD pipeline and can be stored, for future reference also, in a repository. CI/CD integration is like tick-tac-toe with built-in Jenkins servers and S2i functionalities. We can then run these images in production environments.
OpenShift (in fact Kubernetes) templates are JSON files that lists all components of a project: docker image name and version, runtime configuration of the images, services, routes and storage options in elite GUI format.
Processing Speed is lightening fast in OpenShift.

OpenShift for sure over Oracle Java Cloud.

Three words sum it up nicely… Money, Market, and Manageability.

Money from a cost comparison for deployment, operations, and capacities.
Market from a how many people are leveraging it and skill available to support the operations of it.
Manageability from skills available compared to the capabilities of the platform.

I'd go with OpenShift. It's been along for quite some time now and has Red Hat's commitment to software excellence behind it.

Well, at the moment, if you are dealing in Dockers, then OpenShift and if you are already using weblogic then Oracle Java Cloud Service.

OpenShift is ranked 3rd in PaaS Clouds with 15 reviews vs Oracle Java Cloud Service which is ranked 6th in PaaS Clouds with 8 reviews. The top reviewer of OpenShift writes "Great GUI and CLI tools allow developers to deploy, test and delete projects on demand, freeing up time for the operations team to work on production readiness". The top reviewer for Oracle Java Cloud Service writes "You don't have to worry about setting up the infrastructure; Oracle manages it. Either is ok. I will recommend OpenShift on Telefonica Open Cloud.

Good morning

In regards to Java Cloud , according to me of course, they do have a slight lead. As their structure has been around longer than openshift has, I think it is reasonable that this be true.

Having said that, not only is OpenShift coming up strong, STABILITY... yes I meant to say that in caps because OpenShift is SOLID. New updates are coming openshift which will closed up the security gaps , agreed , and still .. as a pragmatist that I am , it would take STABILITY over frequent crash monitoring any day.

Where , and again according to me, Java Cloud isn't really giving me anything new , just patches, OPENSHIFT is striving and cutting a new road.

So , some adjustments you need to consider in OpenShift yes with stability or Java Cloud , looks pretty and has caused me some pretty nervous moments.

I had a bad experience with Oracle, and while not too familiar yet with OpenShift, I would not be able to make a comparison.

However, one thing I learn is to stay away from Oracle PaaS, due to their aggressive fee schemes.

One of the most popular comparisons on IT Central Station is Microsoft Azure or SAP HANA Cloud Platform. One IT Central Station user says about  Microsoft Azure that "it has become a one stop shop for cloud computing and continuing to grow".  Another user says about SAP HANA Cloud Platform, "[It] Improved our speed to bring our mobile applications into productive use in a cost-effective way"....

Two different platforms. Once based on Memory processing for SAP applications and the other one a Cloud platform for multiple mission critical applications, app deployment and database. The Azure Cloud platform has the largest footprint in the market considering much of the applications run on Microsoft platform with large growth and interest from the Government and public sector and crown corporations. The Microsoft Azure is expanding and growing to adopt the market needs from H.R management, Data warehouse, Application development, collaboration, integration with On-prem services and systems and more. The SAP Hanna is a memory processing technology with minimum or no dependency on hardware acceleration such as SSD and high performance drives. Fantastic and innovative running applications in the cloud or on-prem with SAP centric operation.

Here is my view : MS Azure is the best option in terms of below things: Technical support and cost of the project are good. It is easy to Maintain and support best ranking 2nd compared to SAP HANA 19 and depend on Technology if it's not very-very big data then MS Azure is best
