Microsoft 365 Business Valuable Features

RicardoPedro - PeerSpot reviewer

Previously, you had the inconvenience that if you sent an Excel file to someone, you could not work together on the same file, and now you can. With the components that we have available, several people can be working on the same document, at the same time, doing the changes, doing the updates that they need to do. It makes the collaboration and the work more efficient.

We can touch base with our clients and we can touch base internally with our solutions without impacting the work or suffering from a lower speed. The performance and the efficiency of our planning and roadmap are extremely good.

The solution can scale up or down easily to meet the needs of any organization.

The solution is stable.

The initial setup is pretty straightforward.

Technical support is quite helpful and responsive.

The integration between all of the apps is helpful.

We're using Excel quite a bit, including Visual Basic, including macros, including all kinds of features there, to do reporting and to generate various reports. This is being used, it is good, and its functionality is great.

Microsoft Project is also used quite a bit and we like how easy it is.

However, some things and applications are still not up to speed. For example, I'm talking to you through a Jabra earpiece. If I speak via Skype for Business, and I want to end the conversation, I can press a button on my earpiece and it drops the call. Skype on Teams doesn't work this way.

I find Microsoft Office 365 initial setup is very easy.

The stability is pretty good.

As a small business, the big thing for us is the ability to onboard new people easily. We have people come on board for both short and long term projects. Getting them a corporate identity through email is important and it needs to be painless.

Through the admin portal, it's a matter of minutes to add new users, assign a license or buy a new license, and get them logged on. It takes 10 to 15 minutes.

Everything gets integrated. Different services that they provide are well integrated into the entire system, which is the biggest strength of Microsoft products. Everything works together. If I create a Microsoft Teams theme, I get a SharePoint site and planner. Everything, including permissions, is scoped, which is really nice.

I enjoy using Teams, Outlook, the forms that are provided, and SharePoint because it connects all of us within the team.

We are able to share all of our worksheets, and the collaboration is valuable. This is what makes the Teams feature the part I enjoy the most in this solution.

The storage, cloud storage, and forms are very useful.

There is a lot of documentation available that is easy to comprehend and follow.

There are a couple features that I have found most valuable. Recording is a major feature for us, at least internally. It took a lot of conversations and I can't type that fast. We are able to capture and then go back and repeat. Dictation is huge. I use that on client calls when the client is speaking, I can give you a play-by-play of that conversation, with their permission, of course. Then the obvious features, Outlook and email are just spot on. I never have any glitches there. It's sent and received within the timeline of five seconds and life is good.

The storage aspect of the solution is very useful for us.

I like that all the Microsoft applications, for the most part, are a part of it - including the Microsoft Office suite of applications. Our email is also included in it. Teams may also be a part of the solution - or it might be a part of Office 360. I'm not 100% certain. Either way, it has a huge umbrella of applications under it. The solution offers close integration with each and every Microsoft product. It's important.

The productivity of the solution is very good due to the fact that so many applications are all in one place and integrated together.

I like the fact that everything is online. It makes the solution very accessible.

Both on the usability side and integration side and especially around AI with Microsoft's new product VIVA, the solution is very interesting.

Excel is a very powerful tool. I can create a lot of data in Microsoft Excel and then use it and extract the data in any analytics platform.

It is a complete tool. It gives me every kind of feature that I want. It's quite good.

When you talk about ease of use, it's relative. I have been using Microsoft products for a long time. I have grown with it and the product has grown with me. I feel comfortable. But, for someone with no background in IT that doesn't have the dexterity to play with the IT tools, they may find it difficult to use.

When you get used to it, it's like picking up a paper and a pen and drafting it. You can use many more features. Paper and pen are used to exemplify simplicity.

When using PowerPoint, I want to create a very illustrative presentation. I can draw many pictures globally with several designs. It's flexible. After preparing the presentation, I can preview the form and share it with people.

It's very user-friendly.

I can use this product on five devices. I can use it on my mobile, and I have two laptops. I can access it from any one of my devices, even if I am commuting or in another country, I can access all of my documents.

Microsoft OneNote is also included. I can create my shopping list, or go on a trip, and make all of my notes accessible on all devices.

In my case, I have a lot of different email domains and they're all hosted in the same environment. I used to use 365 when I was at IBM, and, at later stages in my career, at other companies. I used to have my own license at home. Now, I have my own consulting firm. Recently, I got a laptop. I felt that transferring all the information from one laptop to the other was a painful experience. I got 365, as it is in the cloud, and due to that, I can just download my user information and I'm ready to go.

At this stage, we're getting the most value out of Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, and some portions of SharePoint. Another nice thing is that Microsoft has infrastructure within our borders. When I start Confluence, when I'm on the go, let's say on the plane, I can still modify my files and then when I get to coverage they are synchronized with the cloud. That makes it really strong. One thing that's nice with Office applications, Excel, PowerPoint,  is that  Microsoft and Esri, the manufacturer of ArcGIS, based in California, they have collaboration that provides ArcGIS tools, a mapping technology, within MS Office software.  You can easily drag maps into PowerPoint, for example, or use ArcGIS in Excel to put location context to information. You can immediately access ArcGIS while working within the environment of these tools provided that ArcGIS is on board as well.

Office applications have been the dominant application for business. In the Philippines, most of the applications are in the MS Office suite. One would want to build skills on these tools as they are what is required and in use in organizations. Doing this increases qualification.
