We performed a comparison between VCenter Orchestrator and VMware Aria Automation based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: VMware Aria Automation helps organizations improve IT agility, productivity, and efficiency to remain competitive and secure in the marketplace. Users feel it is a complete solution that is stable, easy to manage, and performs very well.
"The most valuable feature is that this solution is complete, and you don't need any add-ons."
"The technical support services are excellent."
"The DRS feature from VMware is very valuable to us because it balances workloads."
"The implementation phase for vCenter Orchestrator was easy."
"I am impressed with the tool's easiness to work with VMware solutions."
"vCenter Orchestrator's best features are the workflows, integration with third-party applications, and the workflow library."
"The stability of the product is very good."
"If I need to do DR, VMware can enable me to use vMotion, which requires use of vCenter. You cannot do vMotion without vCenter. We do a lot of automation, orchestration, and simplification for that purpose."
"I can make a blueprint with an Active Directory deployment. With everything prepared, people can start installing our products."
"Our users can order VMs using the API."
"The extensibility of it and the customization of a lot of the Blueprints, that you can customize, and the community as a whole. There's a ton of community-generated Blueprints that might be (helpful) to set up a design for your automation needs, that you can use as a base and go on from there and make changes to it."
"We have integrated our CICD pipeline into an automatic catalog request through some API calls. It can request and provision new virtual machines behind the NSX load balancer, straight out of the CIDC pipeline and add those nodes to the load balancer, request SSL certs, do SSL termination at the load balancer so that it's not encrypted behind the scenes, all of which has really been helpful."
"Using the VMware vRealize self-service portal, we can better manage the lifecycle."
"Scalability is perfect. We haven't had any issues."
"The product saves a lot of time and cost for us. It has valuable features for creating a playbook."
"The most valuable feature that we have is that it's able to deploy several different operating systems, it's able to deploy whatever we want. We can take a template, spin it up, revise it, save it back off, and be able to have that for other departments. We can have one for our Dev team and one for our research team which has some specific requirements. We can keep track of them and deploy things automatically."
"I would like to see better performance."
"The response time of vCenter Orchestrator's support could be improved."
"The cost of the solution is high."
"As we work towards more stability on the solution, sometimes we'll try something and it breaks and it's easier to restart the service. That's the only drawback. We've experienced this with other applications as well."
"The custom workflows are very difficult and confusing."
"In the next release, to make it easier to write the workflows, I would l like to see more HTML GUIs."
"There are no good manuals or guidelines on integrations. Hence, you need to be asking someone."
"A feature to review and setup tasks should be added."
"I would like to see more out-of-the-box blueprints and workflows for the rest of VMware's products and its portfolio."
"The setup is difficult. You need a technical person to help you set it up."
"It is complex to use for new users. It should have automated tools or drag-and-drop functionality."
"The stability is okay, but could be improved. We sometimes receive strange errors, which can only be solved with specialists."
"VMware needs to make it to where it is not as custom. Right now, you spend a lot of time making the services work. In order to get it up and running initially, that takes time."
"The high price of the tool is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"It is not intuitive or user-friendly. It's complicated as heck. We actually hired VMware Professional Services to come in. I understand the newer version, which we're not quite on yet, is easier and that the interface is better. But the product is really a profession unto itself. The user interface could be improved on."
"Maintaining the product requires effort and a good understanding of the environment, including how to set up the codes and other configurations. Pricing needs to be improved to improve the customer penetration."
