We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like its modern approach. It is very modern and new technology.""I have found the consolidation of the business and group reports very useful. There is plenty of features and the manufacturing and finance aspect of the solution are strong.""When we were using it, we did see an immediate benefit, especially in the inventory on consignment issue. We were a biotech pre-revenue company and most of our manufacturing was outsourced. So being able to track inventory within the system without creating a financial impact was very key for us.""It has a quick implementation and onboarding of users. It is flexible with reports and powerful.""The most valuable feature of SAP Business ByDesign is it has a streamlined design.""I find the tool’s every feature valuable.""I like the tool’s customization.""ByDesign's best features are its speed, real-time data, and reporting."

"I have found the user interface very modern and it has simplified many user jobs, such as the embedded logistics. They have introduced central finance which has been a benefit.""S/4HANA falls under a single terminal. We can easily access the data, and the performance is good.""I have found the most valuable feature to be the SAP Fiori application.""We're able to get all our processes flowing together. We're able to make all of our business processes talk to each other.""Because I'm a procure-to-pay consultant, I mostly look at that angle, and I have a bit of experience with sales and distribution. I also like the integration between S/4HANA and other ERPs because S/4HANA is a suite. For example, the integration between S/4HANA and EWM Transportation Management, and Ariba.""One of the things I like about it is its well-integrated and secure nature.""This tool helps us to manage business in a faster and smarter way.""SAP S4HANA version 1909 is stable. We have not gone live with 2020 yet."

Cons
"I would say budget controlling needs improvement. I mention this because it does not have all the functionalities that we need in terms of managing the budget.""There is room for improvement in the reporting capability. To use it properly, you need intensive IT support. You cannot write your own reports.""The database needs to be more customizable.""The solution does not support customization for forms and reports. It's not flexible in case you need some enhancements in business processes.""SAP Business ByDesign is a very vast product, but it has to be a bit more centralized. All the models need to be more centralized for a better experience.""I would like the tool’s interface to be better. Currently, we use a client application to access the product. I want that to be replaced with a web version. I would like to improve the tool’s internet availability. I also want the product’s setup to be easier.""ByDesign could be improved by making screen modifications easier.""The payroll module of the solution could improve."

"In an upcoming release, it would be beneficial to have more practical intelligence in the system, such as protective maintenance, or artificial intelligence.""Technical support has been declining. They aren't as responsive as they used to be.""Lacks ability to easily mass upload which has become a necessity for industry.""This product would be improved by adding more reports.""The cost of the solution is quite high. It needs to be adjusted.""The product's use of resources could be improved, as it is quite intensive at the moment.""The migration to SAP S/4HANA is hard.""Documentation could be improved."

The main difference is RISE is associated with S/4 Product Range on Cloud while By Design is modeled after SAP Business One also on Cloud.

So both are SaaS but the difference is in enterprise size and also application complexities. Also, RISE offers a bundle of pre-configured modules while By Design is similar to B1 with a lot more flexibility and high scalability. License wise both are per user on the cloud.

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by SAP S4HANA users.

A Mechanical Engineer at a construction company says, “It is a very powerful, highly customizable tool. The most valuable feature is that the reporting is fast. We can see the results from that in that our commissions come in fast. That is the main advantage.”
