Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Features for user behavior analytics and the rules for attack review are good.""During simulations or demonstrations, the tool generates alerts, providing details such as the specific application, its origin, and potential threats. For instance, it can identify if an application belongs to a known ransomware group. The system rates the threat, offering a clear detection ratio, such as 97 out of 100. It not only identifies threats but also illustrates the associated behaviors, helping us understand the potential risk to a particular endpoint.""The solution's initial setup is easy.""Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten. As a cloud tool, the product is highly scalable.""Great coverage of all systems within our network from endpoint to firewall.""We were able to identify criminals attempting to login from China and put a stop on their IP locations.""The alerting to drive investigations and remediation has been its most valuable feature.""User behavioral analytics allows us to pinpoint abnormal or suspicious behavior among millions of events every day."

"The analytics would have to be our most valuable feature.""On the Varonis side, technical support is phenomenal. Their ability to explain is very good, and they seem to be very knowledgeable. When I get an alert that doesn't quite make sense, they dive in there and kind of take me through it. That's very useful and very good. There are some false alerts, but it is better to have a false alert than no alert at all.""It can easily identify unusual behavior or access patterns that may pose a potential threat, while operating as a unified reporting system.""The 24/7 support is the most valuable feature. They have been able to answer support questions pretty quickly.""That alerting and reporting service is great."

Cons
"Currently, it lacks the functionalities provided by Rapid7's User Behavior Analytics (UBA).""One of the things that could be better is digital forensics. It is there, but it can be better. They could provide more on the endpoint detection level.""I would like the ability to adjust the threshold of certain existing alerts. Currently the only option is to change the notifications or create my own alert.""The dashboard is an area that could be simplified.""The product allows us to make only 30 custom rules.""InsightIDR's integration with other solutions could be improved. Also, I'd like more control from the portal over what's happening on the endpoint side. For example, when I see an attack on an endpoint, I want to be able to stop it from the portal.""The solution needs improvement in threat intelligence. Increasing the depth of intelligence to help users understand more about threats is a possibility. My suggestion is to expand access to other websites or resources.""Needs a better ability to customize the check within the console."

More Rapid7 InsightIDR Cons →

"We have Microsoft Office 365. I just saw an article today which says that they're actually getting integrated with Microsoft Office 365, which would be a useful feature. For user-based reports, log on activity, and stuff like that, it doesn't seem to really be present like Log360. That could just be my inexperience with it. I've been dealing with it for only about two and a half months.""I would like it to have cloud integration.""The GUI should be more functional. There should be a process for connecting through Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.""It is significantly complex.""I'd like to see automatic updates for this solution. Currently, it's a manual process to update all the keywords"

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I am sure that there are cheaper products out there, but none that meet so many of our needs whilst maintaining stability and usability."
  • "The team is very willing to work with companies. My suggestion is to call the Rapid7 sales department and see how they can help."
  • "Licensing is straightforward. If, for some reason, you don’t meet the minimum licensing requirements, there is a third-party managed service that can help."
  • "Accurately predict your licensing counts as this is a subscription based product."
  • "The pricing and licensing are competitive."
  • "Licensing is by endpoint and amount of retention time (at least ours is). Default retention was one year, but we are able to push the retention further if needed. There's also a provide-your-own-S3 option for longer retention if you don't want to pay for the additional retention years in your Rapid7 agreement."
  • "It is a reasonably priced solution."
  • "It is on a yearly basis. For our own company, for about 250 users, it was 16,000 euros a year."
  • More Rapid7 InsightIDR Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "You could do a subscription, where you pay yearly, or you could purchase it outright. The licensing cost is based on the number of users on the system that you are monitoring."
  • "Licensing is on an annual basis. Maintenance and renewal fees are separate. Varonis Datalert is quite expensive."
