We compared Nasuni and Veeam Backup for Office 365 across several parameters based on our users' reviews. After reading the collected data, you can find our conclusion below:
Comparison Results: Nasuni and Veeam Backup for Office 365 offer different features and benefits. Nasuni provides more flexibility and options for data management and storage, including merging and separating data sets. It also offers unlimited storage capacity and strong disaster recovery capabilities. On the other hand, Veeam Backup for Office 365 is known for its simplicity, ease of use, and integration with Microsoft 365. It has a straightforward initial setup process, while Nasuni's setup can be more complex and time-consuming. Nasuni provides a comprehensive storage solution, while Veeam Backup for Office 365 focuses specifically on backing up Office 365 data.
"It has the ability to do end-user recovery, or a user can simply contact an admin who can perform a recovery from the management console. The versioning has simplified everything. Now we don't have to worry about those components."
"The most valuable feature is disaster recovery. We can fully recover a site in two hours."
"We've used it to provide file source capacity for VDI environments. The security of it is important and the fact that it's object storage, it's immutable and that it can't be held for ransom. It's a lot smoother than our previous processes that weren't Nasuni-based. A lot of it is done automatically just by the system being in place."
"Nasuni has the capability of taking a snapshot every five minutes. If a user has accidentally deleted their data, we can recover it from the snapshot and provide the latest data to the user. It's a really great feature, one that is not provided by other vendors."
"I like the unlimited snapshotting."
"We have less downtime and fewer trouble tickets from users who cannot access their shared files. Nasuni has reduced the friction and noise associated with file management because the devices are more reliable."
"The most important feature is that things are backed up automatically in AWS. We have a lot of remote sites where there is a tiny server onsite and, in a lot of cases, we really don't have to back them up because the data is automatically copied to AWS. The cloud replication is the most useful functionality for us."
"The global file locking feature is valuable. The ability to quickly deploy new sites is also valuable."
"It is a stable solution."
"It is easy to use and easy to recover files."
"The solution is stable."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is its performance. Additionally, the user interface and documentation are easy to use and navigate."
"Technical support in Veeam is good."
"Veeam Backup gives you the option to backup your data from the cloud to on-premises."
"The most valuable feature is that we don't need different agents to back up our files from different accounts."
"One of the valuable features is the ability to restore a specific email. For example, if a user has deleted an email and they would like that particular email back we are able to restore it."
"Migration from existing systems, specifically StorSimple, could be improved, but that solution will be end-of-life by the end of the year. Also, the documentation could be more accessible."
"As administrators, we are used to having control equal to managing an on-prem device. In terms of log analysis and other things we want to do, Nasuni has some limitations limitation on what you do on the Nasuni. Nasuni could add some features to the GUI that make administration a little easier. It's tough when I have to move from one filter to another because there is no way to search it. We have to scroll up and down to find the name of it."
"I would like to see improvement in the training Nasuni provides. Compared to some of the other vendors out there, like Microsoft, where you can find how-to videos, Nasuni only has a lot of PDF documents that you have to go hunting for. It's workable, it certainly isn't a problem, but video walkthroughs would always be helpful."
"When we have to rebuild a filer or put a new one at a site, one of the things that I would like to be able to do is just repoint the data from Azure to it. As it is now, you need to copy it using a method like Robocopy."
"Nasuni could improve cloud integration and documentation of various ways we can leverage the product. It integrates with Azure, but the native Azure File Sync solution lets you divide data into tiers like hot, cool, and archived. Nasuni doesn't allow you to break the data apart into those tiered categories."
"One thing to consider is that Nasuni will have the same limitations that a traditional file storage solution will have, although that is because they are taking the place of a traditional architectural model. For example, Office 365 supports collaboration on documents such as Excel files and Word documents, but because Nasuni is a traditional file server, in that sense, it can't make use of that functionality."
"The only thing that I'd like to see is more support for platforms like OneDrive or Box.com."
"The speed at which new files are created is something that could be improved. For example, if you create a new file in another country, I won't see it for between 10 and 15 minutes."
"When you add a new site for backup, it gives you a notice that there is a new site, but the way you select that and configure that could be slightly better. It works, but it is not always very clear. For example, for the URL, you need to hover over the title or the name of the site. You should see it immediately on the screen. It should have a better user interface for selecting what you want to back up so that you get a more clear overview of the sites that are there and the ones that you want to combine in a backup. Its user interface should be more user-friendly. It has a lot of scrolling and doesn't give you a complete overview when needed. That's the main thing why it is not very user-friendly. It should have a better user interface."
"You can't really edit. For example, if you have created a backup for a user, you can't drill down on a granular level during the backup. You have to back up the mailbox completely. That's it. It would be helpful if you could at least go inside the mailboxes to choose what you want."
"This is a cloud solution, and the speed can be slow sometimes."
"The installation could always be a little bit easier. You do need to be a bit technical."
"This solution does provide the option to choose a different target of storage."
"The solution could improve scalability, both in terms of more storage and users. These two attributes are quite important when you talk about good scalability."
"Veeam Backup for Office 365 can improve by adding more features with Microsoft teams. We have many files that we are working on with Microsoft teams and there should be more integration and features."
"Its price could be improved."
