Executive Summary

Review summaries and opinions

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

ROI

Sentiment score
6.5
Cloudflare users experienced increased performance, security, and cost-effectiveness, leading to improved loyalty and revenue despite difficult ROI calculations.
Sentiment score
7.5
Mimecast Incydr improved cost efficiency, ensured data recovery, enhanced security, reduced downtime, and provided significant financial and administrative savings.
Sentiment score
3.2
In-house teams claim McAfee offers high ROI, but executives struggle to see it without C-level focused reports.
WordPress security can be tricky, and that's where Cloudflare can be absolutely helpful for small businesses.
For the small project I was working on, using the basic tier provided a huge improvement at zero cost.
In terms of return on investment with Cloudflare, it costs my time to set them up, but basically once they're set up, it's done.

Customer Service

Sentiment score
7.0
Cloudflare's customer service is quick, but technical support feedback is mixed, with improvement needed in responsiveness and detailed assistance.
Sentiment score
8.8
Mimecast Incydr's customer service excels in prompt, knowledgeable support, offering efficient issue resolution and valuable online resources.
Sentiment score
4.3
Trellix ESM customer service is generally satisfactory, but technical support varies with noted delays and skill gaps.
This would help us address issues promptly, especially during unforeseen events like DDoS attacks.
Cloudflare does not offer hands-on technical support to fix customer problems but rather a self-service model.
I would rate the technical support with Cloudflare as excellent every time I've had to call them.
I would rate support for Trellix ESM 10 out of 10 because if we connect with the support in the UK, we get excellent support.
It's rare for me to need them unless it's an issue with licensing, and they are the best in that regard.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
8.1
Users praise Cloudflare for seamless scalability, effective traffic management, easy upgrades, and robust global infrastructure without disruptions.
Sentiment score
7.9
Mimecast Incydr seamlessly scales from small to large deployments, supporting expansion with efficient licensing and storage management.
Sentiment score
8.6
Trellix ESM is highly scalable and adaptable, excelling in enterprise environments but may have limitations for medium enterprises.
It is a SaaS tool, but the fact that they have workloads deployed across the world proves that it is a highly scalable tool.
The tool offers very good performance, even during high-traffic periods.
I rate the solution’s scalability an eight out of ten.
Scalability is quite easier with Trellix ESM, because all we need to do is add more receivers to it, so it can go to any point.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
7.6
Cloudflare is highly rated for stability and uptime, with few past issues, especially on higher-tier plans.
Sentiment score
7.8
Mimecast Incydr is reliable and stable, with minor issues swiftly resolved, offering robust performance and minimal service disruptions.
Sentiment score
8.3
Trellix ESM is generally stable with effective support, though some users experience bugs and interruptions affecting reliability.
For DDoS protection, I would not recommend Cloudflare.
I rate the solution’s stability an eight out of ten.
The service is very stable with no impacts during high-traffic periods.

Room For Improvement

Enhancements needed in Cloudflare: analytics, CDN latency, API integration, user support, DNS, pricing, documentation, server coverage, WAF, and cache.
Mimecast Incydr needs better usability, integration, reporting, legal hold, Safari support, and admin features to enhance user experience.
Trellix ESM requires stability, HTML5 migration, and upgrades in customization, integration, support, usability, and AI for improved functionality.
There's a need for improvement in areas like AI-based DDoS attacks and Layer 7 WAF features.
Despite these challenges, overall, Cloudflare remains the preferred solution compared to Azure, AWS CloudFront, and Google Cloud Armor.
Areas like how assessment, discovery, and payload are dealt with and how it all comes into your organization can be considered when trying to make suggestions to Cloudflare for improvements.
If there is any device which is not covered, there should not be any additional charges for writing the custom parsers on that.

Setup Cost

Cloudflare offers scalable pricing, from free to enterprise plans, providing significant value especially for mid-sized companies.
Mimecast Incydr offers competitive, transparent pricing with negotiable discounts, praised flexibility, and valued support, though complex licensing challenges smaller businesses.
Trellix ESM offers flexible, slightly costly licensing, valued for its SOC features, with straightforward setup and deployment.
That's where Cloudflare shines for smaller businesses – it's ten times cheaper than Akamai.
I find it to be cheap.
The pricing for the service is reasonable, neither excessively cheap nor prohibitively expensive.

Valuable Features

Cloudflare enhances performance and security with CDN caching, DDoS protection, and an easy-to-use dashboard, benefiting many users.
Mimecast Incydr provides seamless, secure data protection with versatile features and robust customer support, enhancing user trust and efficiency.
Trellix ESM excels in real-time threat detection, user-friendly interface, quick deployment, and strong integration with other technologies.
The most valuable features of the solution are performance and security.
Techniques like minification and image compression reduce the size of assets, leading to better performance and faster user load times.
The solution has been able to compare it to the market, and I think the product has taken great strides in automating quite a bit of things, and they use a lot of AI.
The weakest point is it doesn't cover almost all the devices, so the customer has to be more dependent on the parsers to be written by the Professional Services team.

Fast and secure deployments simplify operations for government and fintech clients
It is a fast and secure DNS. It is very easy to deploy, and my customers are happy with this tool. Additionally, the CDN performance in Mexico is excellent, providing fast service and tools. It offers reliability during high-traffic periods, ensuring no impact on the environment. It helps my clients avoid using on-premise boxes, simplifying operations as they only use the prices on Cloudflare.

Provides comprehensive visibility and protection, helps in identifying the gaps in security, and comes with excellent onboarding support
In a couple of instances, we had a little bit of trouble in getting it distributed throughout the organization. We ultimately managed to do it, but they talk about it being a pretty simple process, and it became a little laborious. It would just turn away. The agents were not being distributed. It was just churning and churning and churning. When we were looking for specific categories of data, it was getting bogged down, but that was not even so much Code42, although some of it was their issue. It really has to do with the overall infrastructure and what the organization is prepared to do. If the infrastructure or the networking is a little hinky or you don't have a really finely tuned network infrastructure environment and your patches aren't up to date on your servers and your endpoints, it could get a little sticky. Other than that, it was okay. We really didn't have much problem beyond that. It took a couple of days to sort that out, but it was no big deal.

Helps to monitor and detect cyberattacks
The tool's effectiveness depends on how you define your log sources. To build visibility of incoming and outgoing traffic, you need logs from perimeter defense, firewalls, web application firewalls, and endpoint protection. With good traffic visibility, incident response time is really quick. Trellix ESM provides situation awareness. On the dashboard, I can see outbound and inbound communications to known threat hosts, IPS/IDS activity, and threat intelligence of the perimeter defense in the firewall. This information helps preempt attacks.
