We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"By using Microsoft Intune we can control which websites the users can go to and it provides a secure environment for our employees using their laptops that are having access from home. We have installed Intune to control the user's environment minimizing the chances of any hacking.""Remote Wipe and Autopilot is one of the best features.""It is a very stable and scalable cloud-only solution.""With on-premises Active Directory, the main challenge was that we had no control when a user was working from home. We didn't know what exactly a user was doing and whether the AV was up to date or not. Intune provides better control of their machines.""I would say the biggest benefit is the single-pane view. There's no jumping around multiple UI's to do your overall management.""One of the biggest advantages of Microsoft Intune is that it brings the management of Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and even Linux under a single pane of glass.""The biggest thing for us is enforcing logins only from devices that are managed by Intune.""Internet-based access with security is what I have found to be most valuable. It is also a stable and scalable solution."

"It is a highly stable solution.""I want to build automation that is intelligent, part of the fabric of our environment, and is somewhat self-sustaining. I think SaltStack can help me do this.""We monitor the configurations against CIS standards. We run CIS benchmarks and maintain configurations with higher CIS values for each server.""The automation functionality has been most valuable. With a click of a button, we are able to automate provisioning, the build of new hardware and apply patches. These are all extremely important and differentiated tasks that can be automated in SaltStack.""The ability to programmatically describe the desired state of a single, or an entire fleet of servers, on-premises, and in a cloud environment.""SaltStack has given us the ability to deal with systems at scale and rectify issues at scale.""The product’s most valuable feature is its ability to provide environmental security."

Cons
"There are a lot of small use cases where we realized that some technical solution was missing in Microsoft in comparison to other products. For example, it lacks something similar to sensing or location-based rules and configurations.""The most important thing is reporting. They should improve their reporting. They should give a free hand to users. In SCCM, I can create my own reports. For example, in SCCM, I can create an inventory report for my PC or for all PCs, but in Intune, we don't have an option to create any report. Microsoft claims that Intune is a successor of SCCM, but SCCM is more powerful than Intune. So, they should develop Intune more and make it equivalent to SCCM. Then, their product will be great in the market.""Microsoft Intune's support for Mac devices is lacking and could be improved.""There should be more focus on mobile device security and integration.""In terms of what can be improved, I am looking for better enhancements regarding Apple management, not only on the mobile device, but also on the laptop.""I think that there is room for improvement with the reporting. If this is done, it will be a better product.""There is room for improvement in integration and security as well.""The solution could be improved by the opportunity to connect third-party application databases, such as Chocolatey or another setup store, to Intune."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"Web UI.""Its configuration process could be better.""SaltStack's features are minimal.""This solution could be integrated with more hardware for an improved offering.""A hardened set of tests would be much appreciated.""It is difficult to set up.""There is a little bit of pain when it comes to libraries and what is needed to run the product."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."
