We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"When I started using Linode, I found its functionality easy to navigate, user-friendly and responsive to my needs. It provides clear reminders about services I'm not using, like DNS zones, which I appreciate.""It is also important that Linode offers worldwide coverage via multiple data centers. The ability to deploy on multiple servers, worldwide, allows us to have distributed services and failover and redundancy.""The most valuable aspects of Linode are the virtual server and the clean server. I install what I need on it.""I very much like the support that you get, and I think that it's excellent.""The ability to fire up a virtual machine, use it, and then kill it, is quite a valuable feature for me.""Linode offers cost-effective pricing, and it enables me to swiftly deploy my services.""The creation of instances is very good, as is their interface which is not complex and is easy to use. With the dashboard it is easy to create a new instance and add your favorite things. You can add Debian, Ubuntu, or CentOS, or any flavor of operating system. You can select the RAM for your instance as well.""It has helped to minimize the risk and scale services at large in virtually no time."

"The most valuable feature is virtual modeling, which is beneficial because you don't really save the data multiple times the way we did in the past.""What I like the most is that we can convert databases into a proper multi-dimensional model, and then we can project with the integration with Power BI.""There's a minimum amount of downtime when using the solution. This platform is very effective.""The solution is stable and we have never had a problem. We started with one terabyte of data when the solution was first implemented and today we have around almost 600 gigabytes of data, which means means the compression works properly. Before migrating from ECC, we had nine terabytes of data.""One of the features that I've found most useful is that It's very simple. They take care of the technical aspects of the data, installations, patches.""The processes and the way we take advantage and use assistance are good.""Ensuring data integrity across finance, supply chain, and other critical areas is paramount for real-time decision-making. Access to accurate and up-to-date information is essential for data protection. While the digital solution primarily serves basic maintenance, the ability to handle these core aspects efficiently is invaluable for your needs.""I am impressed with how the solution integrates with the ME system and ALE IDocs."

Cons
"I've had some difficulties with some of their IP addresses being banned by certain mail servers.""The product must improve its security.""I'm not sure what could be improved at Linode since they're likely already making enhancements, especially with the Akamai acquisition and, I don't have any specific suggestions as I haven't encountered any major issues. I might consider using API for managing DNS records, but overall, I'm satisfied with Linode.""One thing that I'd really like to see is auto-scaling node pools for their Kubernetes. I don't think that they have that. That's a huge one and would be very helpful. Specifically, what I would like is auto-scaling node pools that would scale down to zero nodes, which is tricky. That's very important for certain use cases.""They recently changed the web interface and although the older one did not look as good, the new one is less responsive.""They could have more international servers. There are certain places throughout Europe and Eastern Europe which are very open to doing a lot of technology business, such as Romania. Romania is very open to technology. At other service providers, I have stuff in Romania. I think there are some Eastern European locations that would be more open to it. So, if they could have more European points of presence, that would be more helpful.""When it comes to marketing and exposure, Linode needs improvement because I just randomly found them by looking for Linux solutions.""There is no notification from the company regarding upgrades."

More Linode Cons →

"Customers need to be better educated about using the solution's cloud for digital transformation.""I would rate the stability a four out of ten. It's an area that could use improvement""The SAP products are complicated to deploy anywhere.""Our data centers are in Europe and come under GDPR regulations, and this doesn't apply to the Middle East yet. It causes a lot of confusion.""The stability of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.""Customization is an area of concern in SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, where improvements are required.""The solution needs to embed or integrate with IBP to fully activate the PPT module with efficiency.""This product is not mature enough at this point in time."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I pay just over £20 per month and have done so ever since I started eight years ago, which to me is good value."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. I like the simplicity of it, starting at $5, then doubling as it goes up from there. That is a brilliant idea, and it is not complex at all. It is about as dead simple as you can imagine. So, if you want to double what you have, then you double your price, pay the money, and reboot. It is done. It's that simple. You can't beat that."
  • "One key difference is that pricing is very hard to come by and to understand with all the bigger companies. Their pricing models are so weird and it's hard to figure out exactly how much I am going to pay for this kind of service. Everything is piecemeal. With Linode, it's simple and straightforward. You know exactly what you will have to pay at the end of the day."
  • "Compared to other service providers, like AWS and Google, the cost of services are much less and more affordable. We are saving about 90 percent by going with Linode versus other cloud providers."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM."
  • "The value for the price is really good."
  • "Pricing is very good and flexible, according to the resources required."
  • "Being that they are small, their prices are slightly higher than the large providers like Amazon if you compare raw computing power."

  • "If you choose the minimum, it will probably cost around $1,000 USD per month if you take a contract for a year or two."
  • "The licensing of the solution is on a yearly basis. The normal price of the solution is quite high, but I received a special discount by making a purchase near the end of the year."
  • "The solution could be less expensive."
  • "The price is expensive compared to the competition."
  • "The price is high compared to other databases, which is why HANA is still not widely used. Some enterprises prefer Sybase, Oracle, or other traditional databases because HANA is a little pricey. Cost is one factor SAP needs to work on to make it more competitive with other databases. Otherwise, they'll never be able to develop a mass customer base."
  • "Our pricing is based on a yearly contract."
  • "The pricing is reasonable when compared to other vendors like Oracle who offer technology enterprise resource software."
  • "The product itself is relatively expensive."
