We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One of the valuable features is the ability to use PL/SQL statements inside the data transformations and jobs.""I can use Python, which is open-source, and I can run other scripts, including Linux scripts. It's user-friendly for running any object-based language. That's a very important feature because we live in a world of open-source.""I absolutely love Hitachi. I'm one of the forefront supporters of Hitachi for my firm. It's so easy to integrate within our environments. In terms of being able to quickly build ETL jobs, transform, and then automate them, it's really easy to integrate throughout for data analytics.""The amount of data that it loads and processes is good.""Provides a good open source option.""We use Lumada’s ability to develop and deploy data pipeline templates once and reuse them. This is very important. When the entire pipeline is automated, we do not have any issues in respect to deployment of code or with code working in one environment but not working in another environment. We have saved a lot of time and effort from that perspective because it is easy to build ETL pipelines.""Its drag-and-drop interface lets me and my team implement all the solutions that we need in our company very quickly. It's a very good tool for that.""Data transformation within Pentaho is a nice feature that they have and that I value."

"The pricing of the solution is quite good.""Provides valuable tools working in integration with RPA tools.""The product provided all the security controls that we asked them.""It is very simple and easy to learn compared to any other RPA tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism.""The flexibility to use already-developed components is really good. You can use it for Excel-related operations and other things.""The solution is scalable.""You can automate browsing tasks without needing a server connection. The platform provides its browser, allowing you to run anything inside it.""The most valuable feature of Kofax RPA is the simplicity of automating tasks."

Cons
"I work with the Community Edition, therefore I do not have support. There was an issue that I could not resolve with community support.""Lumada could have more native connectors with other vendors, such as Google BigQuery, Microsoft OneDrive, Jira systems, and Facebook or Instagram. We would like to gather data from modern platforms using Lumada, which is a better approach. As a comparison, if you open Power BI to retrieve data, then you can get data from many vendors with cloud-native connectors, such as Azure, AWS, Google BigQuery, and Athena Redshift. Lumada should have more native connectors to help us and facilitate our job in gathering information from these new modern infrastructures and tools.""I would like to see improvements made for real-time data processing.""There is not a data quality or MDM solution in the Pentaho DI suite.""Parallel execution could be better in Pentaho. It's very simple but I don't think it works well.""I work with different databases. I would like to work with more connectors to new databases, e.g., DynamoDB and MariaDB, and new cloud solutions, e.g., AWS, Azure, and GCP. If they had these connectors, that would be great. They could improve by building new connectors. If you have native connections to different databases, then you can make instructions more efficient and in a more natural way. You don't have to write any scripts to use that connector.""If you're working with a larger data set, I'm not so sure it would be the best solution. The larger things got the slower it was.""I have been facing some difficulties when working with large datasets. It seems that when there is a large amount of data, I experience memory errors."

"The solution could use some AI integrated features.""Exception handling needs to be improved.""Kofax RPA needs to improve integration with SAP and Microsoft. The professional services offered by the tool's team is below par. Its licensing needs to be more modular.""Automation with the latest websites is not effective. The support of newer websites developed using new technologies would improve this solution.""The solution needs to be scalable.""Kofax RPA could improve web-based automation and there should be a choice of what browser we can use, such as Google Chrome, instead of an inbuilt browser from Kofax RPA. Additionally, Kofax RPA is missing an orchestrator that other solutions have, such as UiPath.""This product has room for improvement in support of aviation. The interface could be improved in the next release.""There is really nothing special about the capabilities of this product."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "There is a good open source option (Community Edition)."
  • "The price of the regular version is not reasonable and it should be lower."
  • "Sometimes we provide the licenses or the customer can procure their own licenses. Previously, we had an enterprise license. Currently, we are on a community license as this is adequate for our needs."
  • "It does seem a bit expensive compared to the serverless product offering. Tools, such as Server Integration Services, are "almost" free with a database engine. It is comparable to products like Alteryx, which is also very expensive."
  • "I think Lumada's price is fair compared to some of the others, like BusinessObjects, which is was the other thing that I used at my previous job. BusinessObject's price was more reasonable before SAP acquired it. They jacked the price up significantly. Oracle's OBIEE tool was also prohibitively expensive."
  • "When we first started with it, it was much cheaper. It has gone up drastically, especially since Hitachi bought out Pentaho."
  • "The cost of these types of solutions are expensive. So, we really appreciate what we get for our money. Though, we don't think of the solution as a top-of-the-line solution or anything like that."
  • "The pricing has been pretty good. I'm used to using everything open-source or freeware-based. I understand that organizations need to make sure that the solutions are secure, and that's basically where I hit a roadblock in my current organization. They needed to ensure that we had a license and we had a secure way of accessing it so that no outside parties could get access to our data, but in terms of pricing, considering how much other teams are spending on cloud solutions or even their existing solutions, its price point is pretty good. At this time, there are no additional costs. We just have the licensing fees."
  • More Pentaho Data Integration and Analytics Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The normal price for an on-premises license is €50,000. That's the price for one robot license. You can have more than one robot license but only one can be run at any one time. I believe the cost of adding a second robot is around €14,000."
  • "Price is not a problem, because they are a competitor and we have a special rate."
  • "I don't have complete insight at this point in time, but I would guess that Kofax is a lot less expensive than Automation Anywhere. I would expect its license to be on a yearly basis."
  • "Its pricing is reasonable given the product capabilities. Kofax has a wide range of products, and it can sometimes be confusing to understand which capabilities come with which product set. One of the key facets that we've been looking into recently is cognitive document recognition that was a core pile of some of their other technologies such as Kofax transformation modules (KTM)."
  • "Kofax's prices are pretty reasonable."
  • "There is a standard license needed to use Kofax RPA and the price is reasonable."
  • "Kofax RPA is moderately priced but expensive in comparison to UiPath and Power Automate."
  • "I give the price of the solution a six out of ten."
