Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is pretty much just plug and play. There is not that much to do with it. It is very easy to use.""Simplicity and reliability are the most valuable feature of Pure Storage FlashArray.""It has good stability for our company.""Before we used Pure Storage it took 93 days of employees who run the database to back up and restore databases. The scale of deployment basically went from several days to a few minutes.""Our storage phones home. It is smart and intelligent in that aspect, which has been huge for us. We don't have to be storage administrators.""At this point, I don't know anything that they could provide in a better way.""The most valuable features are extremely low latency, high IOPS with VMware, inline deduplication and compression.""It's reduced our overhead management time on storage, since it is so simple to get in and just provision a volume, present it to the host, and then you are done."

"Scale out is a differentiator for them, especially in the enterprise market. It's key for a lot of customers.""The GUI is very straightforward and easy to use.""The speed and, for us in particular in what we're doing, the data de-duplication.""The increased performance is many times above our previous array performance in all metrics. Integration with vSphere features is also a definite plus.""Ease of use: My installers - my administrators over the system - they love how easy and fast it is to install and spin up a LUN and get going.""It provides a full feature set without separate licensing (deduplication, compression, snapshot, asynchronous replication, stable performance, etc.).""The capacity that we're saving by using Kaminario's K2 is giving us a four-to-one ratio for our deduplication.""Built-in snapshot support gives us SAN-side functionality most other platforms would have had us license separately."

More Kaminario K2 [EOL] Pros →

"The Reduxio box has improved our resiliency and management overhead.""Takes advantage of deduplication and compression through as much of the content of VMs which are similar.""We can offer a lot more storage to our end users.""With only a few clicks, I can provision or modify storage.""We are getting 4.4:1 data reduction, which means we will be able to squeeze over 120TB into 2U. This is more than enough capacity for us.""We are able to recover to the second, if needed, our data. This greatly improves restore capability, for example, if there is a cryptolocker outbreak or data loss.""Enables multiple hosts access to the virtual machines by providing for moving VMs due to maintenance or host failure.""Reduxio allows you just spin a dial and go back to just about any time… in most cases (depending on the policies you’ve set) to go back within one second granularity for a couple weeks in the past."

Cons
"I’d love to view the average, minimum and maximum performance in the reports (Analysis tab - Performance) but it is only graphics and you need to export data in CSV to find this information.""I would like to see them develop the ability to integrate with more AWS services. There are increasingly more and more services coming out from AWS but there are also certain constraints where we can't move everything over to a cloud as well. We would like for things that are on-premise to be easily integrated with AWS.""In the next release of the solution I would like to see Vormetric native block encryption.""The connectivity needs improvement. You do not have the possibility to have a file and block connectivity at the same time on the same machine. It has limited ability to do so.""Historical analytics would be useful. At the moment, they don't have any type of application built for historical analytics.""It's too early to tell if we've seen a reduction in total cost of ownership. The solution is expensive.""The only time that we had problems with it was that there was a bug in the VVol implementation but, outside of that, it has been flawless.""It needs to improve its price."

More Pure Storage FlashArray Cons →

"I would love to see capacity on its DRAM. I know it's not cost effective for them to do it, but I think that it could be a big differentiator and was a big differentiator from the beginning.""Some of the nice to haves for us, in terms of today, would be VVols but again, it’s not a critical feature.""The management graphical interface needs more improvement.""I would like to see them work with Cisco, so it comes off the FIs, instead of having to go through my 10-gig network.""A single pane of glass to monitor/manage multiple arrays would be helpful.""The interface look and feel could be improved.""I'm hoping to see Active Directory integration. Right now, you still have to use a local admin account to log in and manage everything.""I would like them to improve the look of the product’s external casing and shelves."

More Kaminario K2 [EOL] Cons →

"the only thing I would say negative about Reduxio is the cabling was a little bit confusing at first, but now that we understand it, it's easy. It was just so different from what we've seen before. That was the only hard part to get used to. The storage array is fully redundant, so there are some cross-connect cables that you have to run, from the A side to the B side, and the B side back to the A side, and we've just never seen anything like that before. But now that I understand the design, it makes complete sense. But initially it was confusing.""The user interface for the web console could be more user-friendly, while it is flashy, how to find functions is not necessarily obvious.""Scalability. Reduxio has only one product, they don’t have an option, for now, to expand the storage product.""The only thing that I would point out would be the basic administration management of the machine. Everything has rights, meaning that there's either all control or no delegated control. So to sum that up, it would be a feature request for delegated management in the administrative console.""Needs to be made easier to use with slightly older versions of VMware.""If Reduxio could manage multiple Reduxio systems within the same dashboard, or manage them as a single mode, it be very, very helpful for us.""I am waiting for the vSphere Plug-In with individual VM level control.""The only thing that I'd like to see, at some point in time, is having the storage array being able to detect a ransomware attack. When you get hit by a ransomware it rewrites every block in your guest's virtual machine. So there should be a way for them to be able to detect that: "Hey, this is unusual, to see every block of this guest being rewritten all at one time," and then flag that as potential malware or ransomware."

    Overview

Pure Storage FlashArray is the world’s first enterprise-class storage array that runs exclusively on the nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) protocol for memory access and storage. It represents a totally state-of-the-art type of storage technology. It offers users shared accelerated storage that delivers cutting-edge features in the realms of performance, simplicity, and consolidation. Pure Storage is fresh and modern today and will be for the next decade. Without forklift upgrades or planned downtime, Pure Storage takes the work out of storage ownership and delivers unprecedented customer satisfaction.

Pure Storage FlashArray is built with simplicity and reliability in mind. The solution can be implemented and optimized in hours, as opposed to other similar solutions that can take days. It has no moving parts, which removes areas where it could potentially be vulnerable to suffering errors. It is highly stable and gives users the ability to manage system shutdowns in a way that  prevents data loss.

    Benefits of Pure Storage FlashArray

Some of the benefits of using Pure Storage FlashArray include:

    • A much higher level of speed than similar pieces of technology. Pure Storage FlashArray maximizes the speed at which data can be transferred while at the same time minimizing system latencies that might slow the transfer down. Additionally, it offers users quick memory read and data access speeds.

    • A higher bang for your buck in terms of the storage capabilities you get for the money you pay. They are smaller in size than more standard storage technologies, but they offer flash memory, which enables users to store larger amounts of data than the current standard.

    Reviews from Real Users

Pure Storage FlashArray is a highly effective piece of storage technology which stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its overall robustness and the value that it offers by way of its reliability and ease of use. It provides users with many valuable features that allow them to maximize what they can do with this solution. Pure Storage FlashArray’s reliability and ease of use make it a highly valuable solution.

PeerSpot user Prabakaran K., a technical consultant at Injazat Data Systems, notes the robustness of this solution when he writes, "FlashArray has many valuable features. It's very user-friendly and it has high availability, so there is comparatively less downtime. During maintenance, there is no shutdown procedure, so you can directly power off the Array and manage the shutdown process without any data loss, which is a unique feature. Managing replication and data migration is also very easy."

PeerSpot user Jason D., a cloud solutions architect at a tech services company, notes three features that make this solution valuable when he writes, "We've had different types of storage, and three things of this solution are valuable. The first one is its outstanding performance. The second one is its stability. In the about three years that we've had it, we've had component failures, but we never had a service interruption or any data loss. The third one, which is really critical, is that it is super easy to use in terms of provisioning, storage, and managing the arrays. I'm able to maintain a multi-site environment with a couple of dozen arrays with a single mid-level storage admin."

Kaminario K2 is the world’s only storage solution that delivers the predictability needed to handle the highly unpredictable world of modern businesses. This highly flexible all flash storage platform allows customers to cost-effectively scale capacity and performance to support their ever-changing business –seamlessly, on-demand and with no disruptions.
