Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Flexible architecture: You can extend the system and its capacity by attaching another cluster pair.""The SMP and the xStats, which is for flat file integration, are both useful for integrating the various metrics that the device provides to monitor the performance of those systems.""One of the most valuable features is the graphs, which you can build instantly. I have used some open-source platforms in the past, but they are not as good. With SevOne, the sampling in the graph can be every few seconds, not just every few minutes, and that's really helpful. It's really fast.""The most valuable feature is the NMS because that's the core of the system. Without the NMS, the other tools aren't that usable.""It also gives us the closest thing to real-time insight into network performance that we have, with just a 10-second delay. It's very important for us to know the health of the infrastructure very quickly.""It's a great solution for highlighting and discovering useful information regarding our network's elements.""We've had great feedback from our customers about SevOne support. They're willing to set up a remote session upon request. You have to go through three tiers of support with most vendors, and they ask a lot of screening questions before they will do a remote session. You need to spend a lot of time before an engineer will host a remote session to look at your problematic system.""Its ability to monitor practically any type of network device via SNMP is most valuable. This is the main functionality that we're using. If a network device exposes a metric, such as interface utilization, SevOne will monitor it for us."

"The most valuable thing that we have seen within our group is the ability to ingest all this raw data and have it organized in a certain way so that different groups can get effective alerting from this massive amount of raw data that is out there.""The most valuable feature in this solution is the log searching.""I find the monitoring console very helpful. With one click, I can see how we are performing, and at the same time, I can see what data is flowing.""The alerts are the most valuable feature.""The solution's most valuable aspect is its ability to get information about all of the security measurements in my environment.""Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring gives us complete visibility without the need for storage.""We haven't really experienced any glitches or bugs.""It is a great resource for us because we have so many different data sources and to be able to aggregate that and put it through a concise dashboard or an alert really helps."

Cons
"There is no service mode setup in this monitoring tool if you want to snooze alerts for any specific amount of time, to account for any activity change or major incident.""I would like to see live maps as an added feature. Also, build modules on AI and EML to provide better data insights that would proactively tell us what we should be looking after.""I'm not really sure if this was the software's fault or a server issue, but a couple of years back the disks were failing on our SevOne physical server every month and the server would go down. The secondary server took over from the primary until the disk issue was resolved. That was annoying.""The reporting of NMS is good, but it could be better.""We previously have had discussions on some reporting enhancements. So, we raised a feature request, which was delivered from SevOne.""Software upgrades can be tricky is not easy.""There are some tweaks and enhancements that I've already requested. One is to be able to make changes per device rather than as a global setting. That has to do with naming. It's minor.""The GUI: both the dashboard/user view and the admin tool."

More IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) Cons →

"We have both on-prem and cloud, and the challenge is getting all our log data aggregated or streams aggregated so that it is real-time. We do a pretty good job of that, but our organization is not using it as a security platform when it can do a great job of that.""Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring's data analytics can be improved by including suggestions for various types of continuous monitoring.""In the next release, I would like to see more integration with other solutions.""Splunk could be better integrated with configuration manager solutions so we can automatically resolve issues without human interference.""The cost needs to be re-examined. It's extremely expensive to run. It's also expensive to expand. That's the number one complaint all of my customers have when it comes to Splunk. It's way too expensive compared to other solutions.""We still use Splunk Enterprise licensing. A lot of the newer features go into Splunk Cloud before Enterprise. We're not looking to switch our licensing over, so we're falling behind on the newer features.""The solution should have more sensors regarding fiber intelligence for security measures.""The price has room for improvement."
