We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One of Cloud Pak's best features is the Watson Knowledge Catalog, which helps you implement data governance.""Cloud Pak's most valuable features are IBM MQ, IBM App Connect, IBM API Connect, and ISPF.""It is a scalable solution, and we have had no issues with its scalability in our company. I rate the solution's scalability a nine out of ten.""Its data preparation capabilities are highly valuable.""You can model the data there, connect the data models with the business processes and create data lineage processes.""Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine or ten out of ten.""The most valuable feature of IBM Cloud Pak for Data is the Modeler flows. The ability to develop models using a graphical approach and the capability to connect to various sources, as well as the data virtualization capabilities, allow me to easily access and utilize data that is dispersed across different sources.""The most valuable features of IBM Cloud Pak for Data are the Watson Studio, where we can initiate more groups and write code. Additionally, Watson Machine Learning is available with many other services, such as APIs which you can plug the machine learning models."

"It has good integrations with Amazon Redshift and other AWS services.""The most valuable feature of Matillion ETL is the ETL. The solution is open-source which provides advantages, such as good performance and high efficiency. Additionally, it supports three data types which eliminates predefining the data, and we can write script models in Python.""It is pretty user-friendly, even for people who aren't super technical.""Matillion ETL has great Git integration that is perfect and convenient to use.""The most valuable feature of Matillion ETL is its ease of use. If you have had some experience with other solutions, such as Snowflake, the use of this solution will be simple.""It's been able to do everything we require.""It can scale to a great extent. It can handle the load that we are putting on it, which is about 5TBs.""The simplicity of this tool is nice. It has a good graphical user interface. You can also do a lot of generic stuff in the tool. If there is good connectivity to a cloud database, such as Snowflake, and you can have a lot of Snowflake functionality in the tool."

Cons
"Cloud Pak would be improved with integration with cloud service providers like Cloudera.""The technical support could be a little better.""The product must improve its performance.""The product is trying to be more maturity in terms of connectors. That, I believe, is an area where Cloud Pak can improve.""One challenge I'm facing with IBM Cloud Pak for Data is native features have been decommissioned, such as XML input and output. Too many changes have been made, and my company has around one hundred thousand mappings, so my team has been putting more effort into alternative ways to do things. Another area for improvement in IBM Cloud Pak for Data is that it's more complicated to shift from on-premise to the cloud. Other vendors provide secure agents that easily connect with your existing setup. Still, with IBM Cloud Pak for Data, you have to perform connection migration steps, upgrade to the latest version, etc., which makes it more complicated, especially as my company has XML-based mappings. Still, the XML input and output capabilities of IBM Cloud Pak for Data have been discontinued, so I'd like IBM to bring that back.""The solution's user experience is an area that has room for improvement.""There is a solution that is part of IBM Cloud Pak for Data called Watson OpenScale. It is used to monitor the deployed models for the quality and fairness of the results. This is one area that needs a lot of improvement.""The solution could have more connectors."

"In the next release, we would like to have connections to more databases.""The cost of the solution is high and could be reduced.""The tool's lineage is very weak.""It can have multi-environment support. We should be able to deploy it in different environments. Its integration with SAP connection is not so nice, which should be improved. It can also support an on-prem database.""Ideally, I would like it to integrate with Secrets Manager as well as the AWS.""The current version is a bit more limited because it's on a virtual machine, and everything executes on that one virtual machine.""When using the SQL loader type there were not a lot of pre-processing features for the data. For example, if there is a table with twenty columns, but we only want to load ten columns. In that case, we can use a security script to select the specific columns needed. However, if we want to perform extensive pre-processing of the data, I faced some challenges with Matillion ETL. I did not encounter many challenges, but my overall experience is limited as I only have three years of experience.""I am looking forward to seeing the expansion of the source range for their data loader product."
