We performed a comparison between Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform and HPE 3PAR StoreServ based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two NAS solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The back-end data reporting for Pure Storage is phenomenal. The data that you can see on the performance of your customers' array, so you can be proactive about upgrades or enhancements, and is a phenomenal tool to have access to as a partner. I haven't seen this type of stuff out of anything of the other storage systems."
"My rating of Pure Storage is a ten out of ten because of the price for performance and footprint - the overall value."
"The technical support is very good."
"This solution has improved our organization. In the past, we had reports that were taking up to two hours and after switching to SSD storage the overall processing power dropped to half an hour. The end users saw an immediate performance gain."
"The most valuable features of Pure Storage FlashArray are management and administration user-friendliness, provisioning, and performance."
"I find two features of Pure Storage most valuable. The first is the "safe mode" function, and the second is its simplicity."
"The job of support for the storage engineers dramatically changed. We know more quickly the automation of the provisioning. We can now focus on things that bring more value to the company than just managing storage."
"The performance is very good."
"This is one of the most stable, high-end solutions in this area."
"In terms of performance and ability, the product can stand up against its competitors since the solution offers two controller systems to users."
"The performance is very good."
"Storage is the most valuable feature."
"The biggest benefit of the Hitachi platform is 100 percent storage uptime. It's also highly cost-effective."
"The first thing that attracted this model to us was the non-disruptive migration. We had a very large database application that was on older gear and needed to be migrated to these arrays. We had experience with virtualizing behind an array and moving applications and data but this made it even better."
"Overall, the solution is strong, easy and fast."
"The product has great data storage performance with a 100% data security and availability guarantee."
"It works well and we don't have any issues with this solution."
"I do not have to worry about cross systems talking to each other or multiple systems trying to interact with each other. Our entire vCenter infrastructure is one large stack, which is nice."
"I really like the new RMC (Recovery Manager Cental) software that was introduced with the 3.0 or 3.1 update. It allows us to use our data protector with our 3PAR and give it a nicer front-end than the SSMC did."
"I found it easy to deploy and simple to configure the storage."
"The scalability is good because it is easy to add in new disks. We just add them on the fly, and they are available for use."
"The performance has been fantastic. It has not had many issues whatsoever, and what issues they do have, the support picks up on it quickly. They send us tickets saying that they are doing work without us even having to engage them."
"The most valuable feature when we purchased it was that it was a four-node system."
"We know exactly the capacity that we need for the upcoming year, and it's much easier for us to enlarge the capacity and expose these disk volumes to the relevant servers."
"I would rate this solution an eight. There's always room for improvement, nobody is perfect to get a ten out of ten. They do what they do well. It's not cheap but we it's for uses that we needed."
"It would be nice to have a better view of the allocated capacity on their Platform as a Service solution because we have to do some manual calculations to understand how much we are going to pay every month to use the storage that is allocated."
"There are many features which need to be added, particularly on the replication side."
"In the next version of this program, I would like to see increased security, higher encryption, and faster throughput."
"It took us a year to get it to stabilize and to get the best out of Pure."
"If they could make it cheaper, that would be something."
"Some services could be inserted directly into the SAN, so Pure Storage could complete with the HyperFlex."
"A minor issue that comes to mind is that, every once in a while, a hard drive will go bad."
"The complex setup phase is an area where improvements are needed."
"In the next version I would like to see additional features like artificial intelligence and an increase in the amount of data it can store."
"I would like the fan noise to be automatically adjusted based on the drive's current workload."
"n future releases, I would like to see enhancements in the web GUI capabilities for direct management without additional PCM."
"The distributor needs more knowledgeable resources for technical support. It would be better to connect directly to the vendor in case of queries."
"We've only faced some minor issues. For example, the documentation of some features isn't as detailed as we would like."
"The complex setup, ease of use, and snapshot operations of this product need to be improved."
"Hitachi Vantara has invested heavily in improving their management interface, however, they still have a way to go to catch up with many of their competitors."
"The performance of the solution is not good anymore and the software is different from all the other types and is not compatible. There are more negative things at this moment than positive. This is why we are removing them all from our organization this year."
"I want artificial intelligence. I don't want anybody from my team to touch it anymore. I want the AI to do everything."
"We've had some issues when we were trying to upgrade, doing some firmware upgrades."
"I would like to see more virtualization: storage virtualization, data virtualization would be very nice."
"Its price is a bit high for adding another tree."
"The configuration and flexibility should improve."
"The tool has low storage and low performance. This can be solved by adding more disco to the solution. The product’s pricing is also suited for enterprise businesses rather than smaller ones.I would like to see better performance, UI, and compatibility with other products in future releases."
"It's a little bit difficult to figure out where the capacity is used. There is deduplication that, of course, saves space, but it sometimes it's hard to find out where the space is used. If you delete something, do you get it back? So it's not very transparent regarding capacity."

3PAR is SAS-based storage. The industry is already moving away from the 35-year-old SCSI-way, so it's not a good idea to buy any product with it.
I'm not sure about Hitachi, but as far as I know, they also have SAS backend, so, the obvious answer to the question "Which should I choose?" is "none of them".
My recommendation is - choose other vendors (or models) which provide end-to-end NVMe support and make a choice between them.
Hitachi, if cost and performance for mission-critical apps are high priority.
Otherwise, HPW 3PAR (or now HPE Primera) will be the best all-around for cost and performance. Plus, HPE's Storage Insight is the best on the market
It depends on what kind of requirement you will use with this All-Flash Storage Array.
Usually, high random IOPS is a must for AFA, however, recently there are more and more requirements that are talking about low latency as the key in the virtualization environment. So if you would like just for high random IOPS and MBPs, considering the SAS SSD AFA will be enough, but if lower latency will be your major impact in the environment, NVMe AFA will be the best.

NImble Storage from HPE or Primera, Hitachi sold their disk division. HPE 3Par will be announced soon as the end of life.
Instead, Primera has been created (Primera has the best from Nimble and 3Par). I hope it helps.
I think that you need to meet the needs looking to the best fit to your environment. Looking into Hitachi Vantara portfolio, you will see entry level storage to enterprise. At my point of view, performance, reliability and scalability should be considered.
Another consideration above performance (IOPS and latency), you must to provide the correct profile, such as block size, random or sequencial data, cache hit, replication and snapshots needs. All those informations provides a better solution for your environment.
Dont you forget about the scalability, I think that you must to know how you are growing to fit the best equipment.
Take a Dorado 3000 V6 form Huawei. Huawei OceanStor Dorado V6 all-flash storage sets new benchmarks in storage performance and reliability. The OceanStor Dorado delivers best-in-class performance of up to 20,000,000 IOPS. With the AI chips they are the first in the industry to deliver storage systems that get more intelligent
during the application operations.
Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform F Series.
Hi,
Just assess Pure Storage box as well and also if you are focusing on some specific workload do mention it while discussing with the Pure Storage team like OLTP, DB(SQL/Oracle) or any platform service, etc. At last, your budget is also a major factor while evaluating. As all Flash Arrays do cost more.
