We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Azure Application Gateway makes things a lot easier. You can create dashboards, alert rules, hunting and custom queries, and functions with it.""The most valuable feature is the UEBA. It's very easy for a security operations analyst. It has a one-touch analysis where you can search for a particular entity, and you can get a complete overview of that entity or user.""The connectivity and analytics are great.""I've worked on most of the top SIEM solutions, and Sentinel has an edge in most areas. For example, it has built-in SOAR capabilities, allowing you to run playbooks automatically. Other vendors typically offer SOAR as a separate licensed solution or module, but you get it free with Sentinel. In-depth incident integration is available out of the box.""Native integration with Microsoft security products or other Microsoft software is also crucial. For example, we can integrate Sentinel with Office 365 with one click. Other integrations aren't as easy. Sometimes, we have to do it manually.""The most valuable feature is the performance because unlike legacy SIEMs that were on-premises, it does not require as much maintenance.""The features that stand out are the detection engine and its integration with multiple data sources.""The UI of Sentinel is very good and easy to use, even for beginners."

"The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is the capturing of traffic for reports.""The event handling solution in the platform is very good and useful.""From my perspective, we need to see the traffic in a good way so we can know what has happened in our network. The analyzing tools and the monitoring tools and the logs are the important part in the network.""One of the greatest advantages of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is its ability to integrate with a variety of software and solutions, providing comprehensive visibility into the network. The solution's strength lies in its capability to work with Fortinet's own products, such as the FortiAP access point, which allows for deep monitoring, automation, correlation, and incident management. However, this functionality is not present when utilizing other products, such as those from Cisco, limiting the visibility and benefits that can be gained.""We like the fact that we can run minute-by-minute reporting form this solution.""The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer are the GUI and there is automation that can be done with playbooks and mini-books.""Initial setup is ok.""The program is stable and it gives me great visibility."

"For many of our services, we use Sumo Logic to track errors and send notifications to our Slack channel, if there are issues. Then, we have our support people monitoring this, and they can react quickly.""With this tool, we provide access to every developer team the ability to find errors, then they come to us and ask for specific help.""It provides easy visibility. I also like the shareable queries because we share a lot across groups.""We can ingest logs and make reports out of them. It is a good tool which can help us monitor any issues.""Support has been excellent. Sumo Logic's support staff is really good, both their account management staff and direct support.""We have used it many times to find a root cause of a live issue, then fix the problem in the applications.""The solution is quite stable.""The features I found valuable with the Sumo Logic Security solution are the search option and the ability to customize the search for the information in the logs."

Cons
"If Sentinel had a graphical user interface, it would be easier to use. I would also like it to be more customizable.""Microsoft should improve Sentinel, considering that from the legacy systems, it cannot collect logs.""If Azure Sentinel had the ability to ingest Azure services from different tenants into another tenant that was hosting Azure Sentinel, and not lose any metadata, that would be a huge benefit to a lot of companies.""It has been a challenge with Azure Sentinel to onboard the Syslog server from FortiGate. Azure Sentinel can work better on that shift between the Syslog server and a firewall.""They need to work with other security vendors. For example, we replaced our email gateway with Symantec, but we couldn't collect these logs with Azure Sentinel. Instead of collecting these logs with Azure Sentinel, we are collecting them on Qradar. We couldn't do it with Sentinel, which is a problem for us.""At the network level, there is a limitation in integrating some of the switches or routers with Microsoft Sentinel. Currently, SPAN traffic monitoring is not available in Microsoft Sentinel. I have heard that it is available in Defender for Identity, which is a different product. It would be good if LAN traffic monitoring or SPAN traffic monitoring is available in Microsoft Sentinel. It would add a lot of value. It is available in some of the competitor products in the market.""The built-in SOAR is not really good out-of-the-box. The SOAR relies on logic apps and you almost need to have some kind of developer background to be able to make these logic apps. Most security people cannot develop anything...""The interface could be more user-friendly. It''s a small improvement that they could make if they wanted to."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"I think some improvement is required in real-time log monitoring, as sometimes it gets stuck or displays results after a delay.""Pricing-wise, it not affordable for the normal customer. Most of the people want to see different types of reporting, but FortiAnalyzer's fee is a little bit difficult.""I'm looking for something more efficient to analyze different foreign things. That's why FortiSIEM could compete with FortiAnalyzer.""Fortinet FortiAnalyzer cannot receive any queries. They should add this feature in the future to help manage solutions.""The solution could use more graphics and be more specific in the dashboard. This way, I'm able to understand everything and effectively understand what's going on, including what's incoming and outgoing. Right now, I have to look up everything. I need a dashboard so that I can see specific items right there in one place.""When it comes to pushing logs to a SIEM, most of the time we have some issues when it comes to filtering.""They need to make the monitor better.""If Fortinet could introduce some firewalling or maybe FortiAnalyzer on the cloud, that would be interesting because I've never seen it on a cloud."

More Fortinet FortiAnalyzer Cons →

"It would be nice to have an improved ability to scroll through logs within a time frame. Right now, we can search for specific errors. However, if we want to look for "before and after" within a specific time frame, it's not easy using the tool. This would be an improvement.""I would like to see improvement in the user experience when configuring things, ingesting logs, and creating ports.""There needs to be improvement on imported data which can be used within Sumo Logic to do more advanced queries.""If you want to up your subscription through the AWS Marketplace, it can be difficult. You can't just go back to the AWS Marketplace, and say, "I want a bigger one now." You have to contact the sales team, then they do it on the back-end. This could definitely be improved.""The dashboard has room for improvement, because sometimes it is a difficult to create a specific dashboard or query. This would be a nice place to correct problems.""In my opinion, this solution has a steep learning curve and requires practice if users to be able to use this tool very efficiently.""From the network segmentation side, there is some discrepancy in log onboarding. The tool needs to improve direct API integrations, login integration, native login integration, etc.""The initial setup is the most stressful, like learning how to use it."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "Its worth spending on FortiAnalyzer if you have multiple firewalls in your network."
  • "The hardware cost and services contract are fair."
  • "It depends upon the company."
  • "The cost and pricing should be in accordance with the calculation of log storage capacity for a time period required for historical analysis."
  • "All Fortinet programs come at a good price."
  • "We have several products including Fortinet Wireless, FortiGate Firewalls, and FortiAnalyzer, which are bundled together and cost approximately $50,000 USD annually."
  • "We have around 12 devices and yearly we spend approximately $14,000."
  • "The price is quite expensive. Fortinet products are very expensive. That is something which they should also look at, because if you compare Fortinet product to, say, Sophos for example, Fortinet is really high and that's the only thing which is a drawback for most users."

  • "Purchasing Sumo Logic through the AWS Marketplace was a simple step."
  • "Purchasing the solution through the AWS Marketplace is very easy."
  • "We chose to go through the AWS Marketplace because it makes it a lot easier when we bill our customers. Rather than having to get multiple different sources of information then correlate a monthly bill for our customers, it is just included in the AWS usage charges."
  • "The AWS Marketplace pricing is fairly reasonable for what it does. I wouldn't call it expensive, but I wouldn't call it cheap. It is pretty good."
  • "The only limit to the scalability of the product for us is how much we are willing to pay."
  • "The price scaling comes in a bit expensive."
  • "Pricing has been cheaper than some of the competing tools, like Splunk."
  • "If we went to ELK Stack, which is open source, it would have been less costly, but it would have required more development from our side."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Fortinet FortiAnalyzer solution.

PeerSpot user Imad A., Group IT Manager at a manufacturing company, says, “You can monitor all appliances from a centralized location. You have a front dashboard for all our operations and all the logs. If you need to search for anything you can just dig deep into the logs. The solution offers excellent customizable reports. In our case, we needed a monthly report of all internet consumption, and we were able to easily create this.” He goes on to add, “There are pre-defined templates. The logs cover any question or need that we populate within these templates. However, you can also build your own template. There is great analytics that can be used in different departments. For example, our marketing department can go more into media patterns and not just into browsing patterns. Everything is easily visible and can be tracked and studied.”

Luis G., Systems Architect at Zentius, mentions, “Log collection is the most valuable [feature]. The UI looks great. It has a very good look and feel. We don't have the need to use solid state drives. We use mechanic drives, and we don't see any performance issues, so basically, it is doing fine.”

Rupsan S., Technical Presales Engineer at Dristi Tech Pvt.ltd., comments, "The feature that I have found the most valuable is to be able to see everything in our network in a single task. A single menu and the graphical bar charts that it provides to give insights are very useful. It also gives very good metrics on bandwidth utilization, CPU, and device performance. It is very simple and easy to use as well."

Dilip S., Regional Head at Mass Infonet (P) Ltd., explains, “With FortiAnalyzer, you can see what the user is doing and what sites he goes to. You can also see how much quota there is and how much (size-wise) you want to hit, as well as what the incoming or outbound traffic is, and if it is through the ISP or not. Basically, you can see absolutely all activity using FortiAnalyzer. The solution is very complete. The product is very simple to use. It's regularly updated with many versions constantly adding more content and information. The solution has sandboxing, IPS, and DPS as well. The solution allows for a lot of customization.”
