We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is that everything is recorded in the historical logs, including the firewall rules, headcounts, object-level usage, and the rule documentation. The rule certification details are also there, which means that someone can be held accountable for a specific firewall rule.""The most valuable feature is the Firewall reviews for our company compliance.""FireMon saves us a lot of time and it's nice because if you're adding a rule that's similar to another rule, it'll tell you so sometimes you can just edit the one and add another source or destination in there without creating a duplicate rule. It enables you to consolidate and have fewer, more meaningful rules. We're saving around 30% of our time.""Policy test, access path analysis, and change reports.""The firewall assessment feature is great.""The Security Manager part of FireMon... gives me an eye on everything that's out there, everything that I cannot see. Because I'm not a network admin, I cannot go to a firewall itself, but at least I have FireMon so that I can go in and view everything that I want to view. And I can eliminate whatever I see that is wrong,""The most valuable features are Policy Optimizer and Firewall Manager for different brands of firewall.""It gives us the ability to go to one place to look for potential firewall rules that are inappropriate, or which don't meet compliance. Instead of manually searching hundreds of firewalls for a policy, we can go to this one location and find the rules which are now out of compliance."

"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate Cloud are the IPS, SSL Wireless, and VPN. Additionally, packet inspection and point-to-point VPN application control are useful.""It’s easy to implement.""I like Fortinet FortiGate Cloud's simple UX and UI designs and the fact that it is also a VPN solution for our clients. The solution is user-friendly.""One firewall box can contain various top-of-the-line services that are packaged together for easy administration.""Fortinet FortiGate Cloud is easy to use.""Fortinet FortiGate Cloud has valuable firewall, SSL VPN, and web filtering features.""The most valuable feature of the solution is the remote management capability.""The functionality of the solution is excellent."

Cons
"The advanced features are complex in setting up the rules.""We've had recurring issues managing FireMon's internal backups. Sometimes, the space allocated for the backup is full, and there is no process where it deletes files that are older than I certain date. It's just waiting for the storage to get full and then it's cleaned up. It isn't something that creates serious issues for us.""The cost of the solution is pretty expensive. It would be ideal if they could work on their pricing.""Some of the core functionality in our environment doesn't seem to work. We will get buggy code releases. They need to work on their Q&A of every code release.""The initial setup can take some time, including connecting it and configuring it. It's not something that is easy for anybody to do. There is time and energy required because of the number of systems you have to configure to get it to work properly.""FireMon could be made more user-friendly when it comes to creating filters or conducting traffic analysis.""The AWS integration is still not mature for us to use. It is just not ready for our use case for AWS connectivity. Therefore, it does not provide us with a single pane of glass for our cloud environments, because we can't manage our cloud environment with the tool.""I ran a report and FireMon suggested that certain tools were not used. When I removed them, while it didn't bring our environment down completely, a lot of our environment started malfunctioning. Our backup system did not work, nor did other things that involve internal and external communication. We are not comfortable with what it did."

More FireMon Security Manager Cons →

"The product is not recommended on the basis of technical parameters. It is very tough to authenticate.""If you need to scale, you do need to trade up to a new Fortinet solution.""The licensing is a little bit confusing and needs to be improved.""It would be much better if Fortinet FortiGate Cloud allowed third-party integrations like multi factor-authentication.""We've not seen any areas for improvement.""However, the absence of certain features like CLI is a drawback.""I would like to see a SIEM bundled together with this because customers are looking into better reporting and more proactive security solutions.""Fortinet should simplify the licensing model. It's too complex for decision-makers to choose from the range of options. Handling the pricing model is a nightmare, so it's difficult to sell the solution."
