Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I recall the initial setup being straightforward.""What I like about DX Unified Infrastructure Management is that it's a very good product. The feature I found most valuable in the solution is the MCS feature, which is the automatic deployment of the objects you want to monitor. You can set up a system, for example, if it's a Windows machine and I want to test specific devices on it, I could do that through DX Unified Infrastructure Management. That type of deployment is very good because it means you won't miss any monitoring aspect on any server.""The feature that we've found to be very helpful is the way the solution categorizes the devices to identify groups, groups of devices and clusters. This allows us to be aware of their position within the topology.""Scalability and flexibility. The product can grow with your infrastructure so you don't have to install other products. Just add components. It's very simple.""Easy admin functionality. You can quickly do all the admin functionality without reducing cycles.""Great out-of-the-box capability.""MultiWAN and Balance service""It provides a comprehensive monitoring solution for our open systems."

"It is easier for client installation, and the configurations are doable even for a newcomer in the field.""It's very easy to manage and monitor it.""Being open source lets us customize it for our monitoring needs, saving us money.""Nagios Fusion version 12.8 excels in user-friendly GUI design, cost-effectiveness, and ease of deployment."

Cons
"We have experienced challenges with finding a mechanism to deploy the agents, but it's only on the first deployment so it's not a big issue.""We want to see more investment in the UI and the dashboard.""I would like to see auditability. We've built our own audit functionality to ensure that every CI has the desired model configuration applied to it. And we run that on a daily basis. If that became part of the product, I think it might be a little bit less intensive in terms of resource, because we're doing it with scripts.""CA UIM needs some improvement with performance reporting (if we compare it to CA eHealth).""Within this product there are individual probes, and each of these probes doesn't always necessarily output the same kind of information into our database. So when we try to collect what's called QoS data, from one probe we might get a ton of information, lots of good stuff that we can use in our database, but then from another probe, we might not get so much or we might not be able to pull the things that we want to.""The dashboards need to be improved.""A useful feature to have would be automatic configuration per standard by new robots that check in for any particular customer.""I'm very happy with DX Unified Infrastructure Management, but what could be improved is its user interface because currently, it has many wide spaces. All the information you need is in DX Unified Infrastructure Management, and it's a reliable tool, and though that's more important than the gaps in the user interface being smaller or wider, those gaps still need some improvement. I know the team is working on it. My company had some backend problems with DX Unified Infrastructure Management in the past that have now been solved. The setup for the tool also needs improvement because it's complex. Another room for improvement in DX Unified Infrastructure Management is its technical support because it's sometimes not as knowledgeable or responsive. What I'm suggesting to be added to the tool is an open-standard ELK Elastic-based database where you can put in all data, so that you can use the data in other systems as well."

"Adding application performance monitoring to the product alongside infrastructure monitoring would make it a more complete and useful solution.""Nagios Fusion should include a 'remember me' option when logging in, so we don't need to enter a username and password every time.""There are some bugs, although not that many. There are some situations where the solution is not stable but the number of problems is not very high.""In future iterations of this solution, there is a desire for more seamless integration with other monitoring software."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
  • "The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
  • "The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
  • "Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
  • "CAD $400,000 annually."
  • "Customers pay for the license and the support."
  • "Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
