We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We were considering purchasing other products, like AMP for Endpoints, and it was not properly integrated with the firewall function. It might be better now with SecureX.""The administrator tool in the dashboard is the most valuable feature. It's really easy to quickly see if users are locked out from their device, firmware code, or just all the little dashboards and reports I can run to give the security for monthly reports. The dashboard's really good.""The product is reliable and easy to use.""It provides single-pane-of-glass management, which is pretty easy and straightforward. Because we manage multiple access tiers, it allows us to essentially manage everything from one viewpoint and not have many viewpoints for the same product. This is important because it is a time and resource saver. It also saves us money.""We like the different ways that it allows you to push notifications to people. It can do text, a phone call, and email. We liked the versatility for all of our different end-users, regardless of their level of understanding of the technology.""The single pane of glass management is very important and it is part of the reason we went with Duo. Anything we can do to save time for our administrators, help desk staff, and engineers, is valuable to us.""It is really scalable. It is easy once you get an application in. You can import users from Active Directory and enroll users really fast.""The integration with Azure Active Directory and the AWS cloud is amazing, as most products nowadays require the creation of a customized integration. With Duo Security, it was more like native integration, and it took me five minutes to register."

"The product is useful for providing user access from an in-built office server as we follow the work-from-home model.""In this version 9.1, lots of changes are done for the dashboard, User Store etc.""It offers more platform support, like Apple, Android, and Microsoft.""Other than it provides us with remote access, so it's fairly easy to install, fairly easy to set up, and provides us the ability to get into our corporate environment.""The VPN we are using is good and working quite well.""It is easy to use.""Cloud-based service and management.""The tool has been very stable, in my experience. Also, I haven't faced any issues or problems with integration or connectivity."

Cons
"Duo Security should better organize its tile feature to organize applications better.""For upgrades, there should be a better notification of when they're coming out. We always have a testing phase, so we need to be ahead of it. It takes us longer before we can upgrade to the newest version.""We have had instances where Duo Security stops working on a user's device, which we have fixed by uninstalling and then reinstalling it.""Its documentation must be in French because we are a French-speaking country. They should also provide more training documentation. Its management interface should also be improved. They should also improve its update period. If I compare its update period with other products such as Palo Alto firewalls, this solution is really slow in updates.""When you come to the push in Duo Security, there are some integrations where you have to use the code instead of the push functionality.""I'd like to see it integrated into other applications. I know there are some integrations, but I haven't been able to explore that any further.""We use Yubikey for pushing it to the phones. Yubikeys can get expensive because people tend to lose those for some reason. Fifty dollars a device is pretty high.""Cisco can further enhance the integrations, as they possess exceptional integrations with various providers' products and feature sets."

More Cisco Duo Cons →

"I would like to see the solution meet the integration needs at our company...Improving the solution's integration feature would be beneficial.""It is challenging to use when installing a new version.""Every time that I have a new phone or computer, it takes a little longer to deploy it.""It gets out of sync with Active Directory or whatever it might be, whatever the authentication piece is on Active Directory, and they just reset it on the backend. I never have to contact the vendor.""If they had dashboards or a report for managers or executives, then it would allow them to see the status and have it make sense to them.""Maybe Symantec could consider providing a step-by-step guide for first-time users.""Geofencing needs improvement.""The User Store synchronization part needs to improve. Also, the logs, reports, and dashboard can be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "During testing we are allowed a certain number of licenses for free."
  • "Its price is reasonable. It is not highly expensive."
  • "Their pricing model is a little bit weird. Currently, there is no price advantage in signing up for yearly contracts. There are no additional costs to the standard licensing costs."
  • "Our licensing fee is currently on an annual basis."
  • "The licensing is very good because it does not cost a lot of money. It's affordable for all-sized customers, including enterprises. There is an additional cost for premium support."
  • "Duo Security is free."
  • "With regard to pricing, for a small business buying a one off, it's pretty expensive. If it's an enterprise that has thousands of employees, however, it's really nothing to protect your data because if your network goes down or it's breached, you're losing millions of dollars every minute. When it comes to a large enterprise, it's priced where it should be because you're talking business to business. You're not talking business to consumer."
  • "Price wise, it's not cheap, but it's not expensive at all either. It's in the middle."
  • More Cisco Duo Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Licensing and pricing seems very fair."
  • "There is a one-time setup fee plus the licenses are provided as per the number of users. For SMS and voice calls, the costs are separate."
  • "There are additional costs for maintenance."
  • "I can say that the solution is worth the money."

    Overview

Cisco Duo is a cloud-based access management platform that secures access to all applications, for any user and device, from anywhere. It’s designed to be both easy to use and deploy, while providing complete endpoint visibility and control.

Duo verifies users' identities with strong passwordless authentication and industry-leading multi-factor authentication. Paired with deep insights into your users’ devices, Duo gives you the policies and control you need to limit access based on endpoint or user risk. Users get a consistent login experience with Duo's single sign-on that delivers centralized access to both on-premises and cloud applications.

With Duo, you can protect against compromised credentials and risky devices, as well as unwanted access to your applications and data. This combination of user and device trust builds a strong foundation for a zero trust security model.

Symantec VIP Access Manager is the next generation control platform that integrates Single Sign-On (SSO) with strong authentication, access control, and user management. It offers users and administrators control, convenience, and compliance for public and private cloud- based applications. Symantec VIP Access Manager solves cloud security problems using identity and/or context-based access control across multiple cloud applications. In the cloud, where a traditional enterprise perimeter doesn't exist, this solution fills the gap. Through Symantec VIP Access Manager, administrators can define policies that utilize the built-in user directory or existing identity management infrastructure to enforce security and compliance for applications without getting in the way of productivity. Symantec VIP Access Manager can also protect and consolidate access management for on-premise web applications. It also simplifies compliance auditing for cloud applications by consolidating logs across all applications it protects.
