We performed a comparison between DD Boost and HPE StoreOnce based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Deduplication Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The dependable protocol and stability of DD Boost are its most valuable characteristics. We encountered no connectivity issues when connecting the backup appliance to DD Boost, and we received no customer complaints about this aspect. Primarily, the smooth communication and connectivity between the server and storage were the main strengths."
"DD Boost's best features are deduplication and compression."
"Overall, scalability is great."
"The tool's deployment was easy."
"DD Boost has improved our data backup and recovery process. Its data deduplication feature is amazing. The product comes with cloud features. It helps to save time."
"Operationally, we are satisfied as there have been no issues or closures to report."
"It's stable and reliable."
"There are no limitations when it comes to the scalability feature of the product. You can scale up or scale down however much you want."
"It is very easy to implement."
"I'm impressed with their support structure, call availability, understanding, flexibility in scheduling remote sessions, and accommodating customer timeframes."
"Technical support is quite good."
"Has very good deduplication and encryption features."
"The valuable feature is the ability to work with the Veeam software to reduce the backup windows."
"The solution is stable."
"Currently, VTLs can only be created on individual service sets and cannot be used to share the resources of other nodes."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that the tool provides good value for somebody who needs an affordable and reliable storage solution."
"DD Boost's technical support could be better."
"My customer was interested in ransomware protection. Currently, Dell offers the Cyber Vault solution, which is separate from Data Domain. Ideally, ransomware protection would be integrated directly within DD Boost, without requiring an additional out-of-the-box solution. This feature is currently available with HPE's Zerto and Huawei's Ocean Protect with third-party products like PradoNet. While Cyber Vault exists as a separate solution from Data Domain, having some standard protection for immutable backups into DD Boost would be a valuable addition and make it more competitive with other vendors."
"It would be good if the product could be useful not just for general backup. Its pricing is also expensive, and it can be a difficult application, particularly when you need to write a script for anything you would like to do."
"When my company faced a problem with the product, it took some time to get proper support."
"The solution must provide better deduplication."
"Integration could be better."
"The multi-tier functionality can be improved, but it is quite good. They could improve replication and perhaps support additional sharing network protocols. I would also like to see better implementation of NFS Version 3, but it is already implemented and quite usable as it is."
"It should be expanded to include other databases and software. It should also be made easier to restore."
"I would like to see an emphasis placed on making data deduplication and compression more powerful."
"The user interface of HPE StoreOnce is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"We would like to see some improvements in the Veeam Backup & Replication integration. It's good, but it has a lot of room to improve. In particular around the inability to easily move data between StoreOnce appliances."
"I would like to see better integration with Veeam software."
"HPE StoreOnce Backup to Disk (BTD) is not a good backup solution for NAS devices. It does not have a dual controller, so if one controller fails, the entire system will go down."
"The web interface, ease of use, and GUI all need to be improved."
"HPE StoreOnce should come with a detailed installation guide."
"Agnostic backups."
