Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Upgrades are very simple as well because they've allowed us to get updates directly in the CloudCenter Suite manager. If you need to do an upgrade to your setup afterward, you just push a button and it rolls out the parts and retires the old ones. It's seamless and very simple compared to what we've done before.""The initial setup process is straightforward.""The solution is agile and it has APIs for integration.""Cisco CloudCenter's scalability is good.""The solution includes a lot of features and is useful because you can configure all the way down to ports.""I can define all components and create a blueprint for consumption across all services.""You can scale it easily.""The initial setup is fairly straightforward if you have a basic setup."

"OpenNebula is lightweight, stable, and easy to customize.""OpenNebula is easy to deploy and manage compared to other solutions like OpenStack.""The most valuable feature of OpenNebula is that it scales very well.""The live migration feature has been great and is something we use very often.""OpenNebula has very good integration with SAP Storage.""The service feature appeals most to us, thus it is the most valuable.""For the entire data center, as a private cloud, I believe that user management, expert management, and the virtual data center is completely magic for the users.""What's best about OpenNebula that people like is that it's easy to deploy. It's also easy to manage. It's interesting because people choose OpenNebula over other solutions because of the ease of management."

Cons
"The tool should improve its security on the XDR part.""They can add some of those features to make the platform more usable for different backgrounds and developer skills.""Improvements are needed in UI and multi-tenancy for this solution.""For many clients, the main problem with the solution is the price. Cisco is very expensive. If they could somehow make the pricing more competitive, that would be a big draw.""They should provide an entire cloud offering, from architecture to network security features.""You don't get all the solution's benefits if you have older switches.""The improvement I would like to see is not one thing particular to CloudCenter. I'd say it's more of a message that the system is still using a lot of the different products and if they would all just fit better together, they all could be faster together.""I'm not a big fan of CloudCenter. I don't have anything against it, however, the on-premise version has been so hard to upgrade and maintain."

More Cisco CloudCenter Cons →

"As with all enterprise software licensing, the pricing is not intuitive and must be negotiated; grandfathered contracts are better than anything offered today.""It should have a simple REST API like most other tools. It's the industry standard format. An XML-RPC API gives you an XML document that you have to convert and then do something with that. REST API endpoint provides outputs in a JSON document. I would also like to see support for user data or heat templates, which OpenStack offers, but OpenNebula doesn't have this yet.""The storage feature that they have is a bit confusing.""There are small things that are hard. For example, making sure that it is going to be installable on public clouds.""The front-facing API can be improved to support lots of requests when the platform is huge with lots of virtual resources.""Most of the competitors are offering some sort of billing software to transform their installation to work as a small-sized public cloud, but those offerings from OpenNebula are still missing.""They have been saying for the past two and a half years that they would develop a feature to hot-add RAM and CPU, but it does not work.""The protocol for clusterization is rough and doesn't work well."
