Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Reduces major vulnerabilities by removing local administrator privileges.""BeyondTrust has very good integrations with quite a lot of security vendors such as SailPoint, IBM, FortiGuard, Splunk, etc.""The notable aspect is its ability to capture the application's behavior comprehensively and this thorough analysis is crucial for effective policy management.""I would say session management on the go is the most valuable feature. When the session is going on, you can stop the session without terminating it for justification. You can cancel it. The recording takes very little space. Those are some things which the customers are worried about when they talk about session recording.""The asset discovery feature is the solution's most valuable aspect. It's very easy to pull assets into the database of the solution manager.""What I liked about this solution is that it can also integrate for tracking malicious use or sending analytics to a host that can process them. I don't know if CyberArk, Centrify, or Thycotic can do that. The analytics was something the client really wanted, and they already had BeyondTrust. It is very scalable. The agent on the workstation is very thin, and the processing power required on a server is nothing out of the ordinary. It is also very stable and easy to deploy.""The privileged access management into sensitive systems is very valuable. That includes control from the endpoint all the way through to the managing of passwords and credentials that are used by the person to access the sensitive information. It's very useful, because nobody ever really maintains passwords for those endpoint systems. It's maintained in the Dropbox password file.""It is straightforward. It is a good technology, and it is made to do one single thing."

"The protection on offer is very fast.""It's my understanding that the initial setup isn't too difficult.""The installation is quite straightforward.""The product is easy to implement.""It loads quickly, and it doesn't affect the operating system or the customer's environment.""I like that it keeps my systems secure.""The most valuable feature is the protection it provides. It stops you from exploring certain sites. If you somehow try to mistakenly access a website that contains malware, it will stop you. This is a good feature because it prevents viruses.""I use McAfee MOVE AntiVirus for internet security, file security, and ensuring I don't have viruses on my system."

Cons
"What's bothering me, which is true of all of them, is that sometimes, the error codes that come up don't necessarily get reflected in the searches within their support sites or they're out of date. I would rather search by an error code than type in the text and search for it by text because the error code means that it is programmatic, and it is known. It might not be desired, but it at least is not unexpected. If you don't have an error code, you just get an anomalous error, and if it is lengthy, it can be difficult to search and find the specific instance you're looking for. This is something I would like all of them to improve. BeyondTrust, CyberArk, Centrify, and Thycotic could do some improvements in staying up to date and actually allowing you to search based on the product version. They are assuming that everybody is on their way to release. They put out a new release, but it is not reflected on the support site, which makes no sense to me, especially when they revamp all the error codes. They all have been guilty of this in some way.""It keeps on breaking every now and then. It is not yet mature. Every time something new comes up or we run into some new issues, the culprit is BeyondTrust because the agents and the adapter are not mature. The new development process goes on, and they're not able to handle things. It should be mature. It shouldn't break every now and then.""There are three types of endpoints. If we need to use them in the solution, then we need to purchase the licenses separately. The tool needs to improve its licensing.""The program updates are very rare and the frequency is too far apart to take care of bug fixes and adding the latest features.""Reports to the end user.""The weaknesses are related to the effort required to migrate from existing technologies or having no Privilege Access Management (PAM) at all to adopting technologies like BeyondTrust. It involves changes in processes and can take a significant amount of time, typically six to twelve months.""There is room for improvement in having the solution align more with standards. We're always shoehorning the product into the standards. It's not that it doesn't work for standards, it does. But Quick Start Policies are pretty close to what we need. The vendor needs to keep looking at GDPR, 27001, and 27701. That's why our clients buy the product.""The product should improve its price."

"Sometimes, the updates don't happen successfully. The updates start, but they are not completed. Let's say there is a process that runs on the server-side every night, and it pushes the updates. Sometimes, these updates fail. I'm not sure whether it is a McAfee's problem or an internal problem with our systems. If this is really an issue with McAfee MOVE AntiVirus, McAfee can work on it and improve it in the next release. If it is an internal issue, I need to figure out why it is happening within the organization. We may need to take some technical support from McAfee to see what the problem is and then we need to get it fixed. At this point in time, all I know is that it happens sometimes.""McAfee MOVE AntiVirus needs to be made more secure, as it is one of the areas where the product lacks.""The cost could be lowered a bit.""The user interface of McAfee MOVE AntiVirus could benefit from some improvements. The excessive pop-ups can be bothersome, particularly when sharing my screen online, as I often get interrupted by the notifications. While I understand there is an option to disable these pop-ups, I feel that it should be disabled by default. Although I appreciate the overall design of the graphical user interface, the constant interruptions detract from the user experience.""Our only issue is performance. McAfee needs a plan to make that better.""I would like to see integration with SharePoint.""The installation process could be improved. It's a bit difficult, but once you get it right, it's fine.""It would be ideal if the product could offer more integration."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I'm sure everyone should have the cluster environment, which means more expensive, anyway, cheaper than the other solutions."
  • "PowerBroker for a Mac client is three times the price of the Windows version."
  • "What BeyondTrust was providing was user-based licensing which was a great benefit from the client point of view. Recently, I don't know why, the licensing model has been changed, and that is the reason that they have lost a bit of their edge when it comes to the PAM, against our competition. The asset-based licensing, from the user's point of view, is not beneficial. The licensing should be based on the users. The greater the number of users, the greater will be the load and the greater the scalability problems. I presume that is why the licensing model has changed."
  • "This solution is expensive compared to its competitors."
  • "Price-wise, it is very competitive. In our area, government entities and banks don't go for the monthly payment. It is a headache even for us in terms of finance and procurement to go for monthly payments. Quarterly might be more logical and reasonable, but the minimum that we go for is one year, and sometimes, we even try to compile and give one offering for three years."
  • "Its pricing and licensing are okay. We were in the perpetual model when it was on-prem, and now, with the SaaS service, we have a subscription model. As a customer, I would always like to see a lower price, but it seems to be priced at the right model currently, and we are trying to get the maximum benefits out of it."
  • "The product’s licensing is different for Windows, Linux, and Mac. The tool’s licensing is yearly."
  • "It was very expensive."

  • "The licensing fees are billed on an annual basis."
  • "The solution is not expensive."
  • "It could be cheaper, but anybody would like a good product at a lesser price."
  • "The solution requires a license."
  • "Pricing is reasonable."
  • "There is no monthly fee. You just purchase the tool."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "The solution requires an annual license."

McAfee MOVE AntiVirus is a virtual environment antivirus solution. Traditional antivirus doesn’t play well with virtualized infrastructure. McAfee MOVE AntiVirus brings optimized, advanced malware protection to virtualized desktops and servers. It offers security and performance for your company without requiring that every virtual machine be installed with an antivirus application. After identifying threats, McAfee MOVE AntiVirus protects your environment using the settings you define.

The software comes with two deployment options: Multi-Platform and Agentless. Both methods are handled and reported on by McAfee ePO and offer consistent protection.

    McAfee MOVE AntiVirus Features

McAfee MOVE AntiVirus has many valuable key features. Some of the most useful ones include:

    • Seamless management: A single solution for desktops and virtual servers works across all major hypervisors. An agentless, tuned option works on VMware vCloud Networking and Security and VMware NSX.
    • Optimized scanning: To eliminate scanning bottlenecks and delays, the solution offloads configuration, scanning, and .DAT update operations from individual guest images to an offload scan server.
    • Visibility: Ability to see into workloads and their underlying platforms through Cloud Workload Discovery for private cloud deployments.
    • Zero-day threat protection Quickly detect and contain zero-day threats and integrate perimeter and virtual machine protection with use of local reputation intelligence.
    • Flexible deployment: Run the same solution in multi platform environments, including agentless environments (VMware, Windows, and Linux VMs) and all major hypervisors and Windows VMs.
    • Single console management The ePolicy Orchestrator implements security solutions across virtual, physical, and cloud environments.
    • Optimization of resources: Scale your scanning power either up or down by using elastic provisioning of offline scanners with event notifications.
    • Manage Your Policies: Automatically tag vulnerable virtual machines and unify policies.

    McAfee MOVE AntiVirus Benefits

There are many benefits to implementing McAfee MOVE AntiVirus. Some of the biggest advantages the solution offers include:

    • Malware scanning is offloaded: Instant security with minimal impact on memory and processing.
    • Boosts web and intrusion protection
    • Blocks unknown and zero-day threats: File analysis in real time via McAfee Global Threat Intelligence.
    • Reduces setup and updates: Virtual appliance that is dedicated and hardened.
    • Protects against antiviral storms: Scheduled and on-access scans are available options.
    • Deployment flexibility: Agentless on VMware or multiplatform (vendor neutral).
    • Leverages McAfee ePO software: Control, at-a-glance visibility, and reporting across your endpoints.
