We performed a comparison between Asana and Broadcom Clarity based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Project Management Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The initial setup is straightforward. It was just a few clicks to get started and to integrate Asana into our existing business system. It took 15 days to fully implement our projects using Asana."
"Asana has significantly reduced the number of emails we exchange because we can access the project directly. It organizes all the tasks related to each project, assigns them to staff with due dates, and tracks progress."
"Asana's most valuable aspect is its ability to consolidate all tasks and projects onto a single board, allowing for seamless navigation through timelines from start to finish. Additionally, it enables the inclusion of key stakeholders and provides a private communication channel for discreet discussions. The organizational component of Asana is particularly beneficial, including its coding features."
"Asana allows you to create your own project with sub sections with subtasks that can be assigned. The feature I really love is that you can tag people to notify them that there has been progress on a project as well as add attachments."
"My task box displays all of our tasks, organized by day, helping us to focus on what needs to be done each day."
"I love the way it monitors all of the current and past projects, and it sends notifications to keep everything on the track."
"It is pretty comprehensive when it comes to the different views that it gives you. It gives you a Gantt chart view, calendar view, board view, and list view. It is kind of helpful to have different types of views and see how it views your different tasks. I appreciate being able to do that. The biggest thing is that it is extremely user friendly. Asana is pretty intuitive. Someone who is not tech-savvy can kind of catch on quickly. It is better than other tools like Smartsheet. Some of the other tools like Microsoft Project and Excel are great tools, but you have to invest a lot of time to learn them, which is not the case with Asana."
"Stable Kanban style tool for collaboration and task management. It runs smoothly and has a straightforward setup."
"What has been valuable are the workflows that are there today in order to keep our executive staff informed as well as our program managers and department managers."
"We have a centralized view that we can have in our delivery and business organizations."
"We are able to track budgets, and with timesheets, actuals against budgets."
"The dynamism of the application where you can modify it to fit your needs is valuable. For example, you can create fields, metrics, and measures on the fly. You don't have to be limited to what the out-of-the-box format would be. It allows you to generate fields, metrics, and reports off of that with relative ease."
"It makes the whole lifecycle of project management a lot easier than using the legacy systems, which we are retiring every few months because of PPM."
"I appreciate the report that shows how utilized a person is set to be within the coming months. I use that feature a good bit."
"It allows me to keep track of the projects, residual location, it gives me the ease of getting status reports out, and checking risks and issues."
"The most useful feature for me as an implementer of Broadcom Clarity PPM is its extensibility. The tool is pretty extensible, and I haven't had any issues with it in terms of it getting used for multiple scenarios and for multiple clients where there's a need for high customization. Broadcom Clarity PPM is a very, very customizable tool, so you can pretty much implement any business process on it with no issues."
"The mobile application of Asana has to be improved a lot because no one wants to do a complete project management task on mobile."
"We don't get enough notifications."
"We tried, but we haven't been successful with it. If people don't have the training, it is not easy to use. You need to make sure that the people are trained to use the system. They can provide more resources in the form of webcasts and videos that people can use to train themselves and understand how to use it."
"Auto-shift is an essential feature for planning, but it's currently not there. It should have this feature so that when you move a task that depends on another task, the dates should be auto-shifted. For example, you have two tasks dependent on each other. When the parent task is moved or delayed, the child task should also be delayed, and the date should be shifted. When we have a very long timeline, it's very complex to go task by task and shift the dates on the task. Auto-shift is a fantastic and basic feature of project management, and having such a feature in Asana would make our lives much easier. If Asana added this feature, it would complete the suit and close the project management cycle because currently, there is a gap."
"On the development side for technical project management, Asana is missing features. We only use it for discussing tasks and strategies, and we use it for customer to-do lists. It doesn't have the source code integration that Jira and Jira Service Desk both have."
"Their workflows and automation could use a big improvement. I don't even know if they have anything in that regard right now. I would really love to see a way where you can send custom alerts based on a task's completion or status change or an approval coming through. I would love to see a way to get some low-code functionality into Asana because right now, that is a big miss."
"It's hard to integrate Asana into other parts of the company workflow, so integration is an area for improvement."
"The product must reduce the information on the interface."
"When we upgraded to 15.1, we had some challenges around Jaspersoft, and also some issues with supporting some of the complex process work flows that we had designed internally, that were affected by some changes in the process engine."
"Broadcom Clarity PPM could improve by adding advanced reporting in the tool. There are a lot of out-of-the-box reports, but I would like to see more advanced reporting."
"I wish patches would be quicker since we're a SaaS customer, and just be a non-event, so we don't have to go through a whole - essentially - upgrade cycle, just to do a patch. As a SaaS customer, I'd like the patch to just happen."
"Maybe we need to bring some financial executive reports to our directors and executives. Maybe we can improve the use of Jaspersoft."
"I think there's still a little bit of opportunity that we can do some stuff better in relation to the financial part of it; just that easier integration, that look and feel. Our project managers, and obviously finance people, love to interface and use of Excel. The more we can get CA PPM to behave in a similar way, which we're already starting to gain in that path, will be absolutely fantastic."
"Look and feel of the user experience."
"I'd like to see blueprints. I'd also like to see the user interface simplified, and to have a lot of templates available on each blueprint."
"Portfolio Management Solution for Project Strategizing" What is our primary use case? It is mainly used for project management, developing the portfolio of the project and the budget process of all projects. What is most valuable? For a very long time, Broadcom Clarity had not developed the old interface that Broadcom no and we were not able to see any new features on the system because of the older UEX. We switched to the new UX at the end of March and it needs some time for the user to react to the new features. But if overall main features are being talked about, the financial part of Clarity is really appreciated. What needs improvement? Among things to be improved, Clarity can really work on its SAP interface. The current interface lacks out-of-the-box connectors for different applicators in the system. Therefore, this requires external support, which is beyond our expertise. In-house development is done for the interface, but as the system becomes complex, there is a building need to maintain the necessity of updates. If the updates aren’t maintained, then the system might be compatible. Additionally, the report generation process using a different software poses difficulties, leading to the need for external consultancy to create specific reports. Certain features, also face compatibility issues with our existing system. Despite these limitations, we find the system satisfactory overall, although a learning curve exists, especially for those unfamiliar with its particularities."
