We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has a lot of great features.""The SOAR playbooks are Sentinel's most valuable feature. It gives you a unified toolset for detecting, investigating, and responding to incidents. That's what clearly differentiates Sentinels from its competitors. It's cloud-native, offering end-to-end coverage with more than 120 connectors. All types of data logs can be poured into the system so analysis can happen. That end-to-end visibility gives it the advantage.""It is able to connect to an ever-growing number of platforms and systems within the Microsoft ecosystem, such as Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365 or Office 365, as well as to external services and systems that can be brought in and managed. We can manage on-premises infrastructure. We can manage not just the things that are running in Azure in the public cloud, but through Azure Arc and the hybrid capabilities, we can monitor on-premises servers and endpoints. We can monitor VMware infrastructure, for instance, running as part of a hybrid environment.""The main benefit is the ease of integration.""It has basic out-of-the-box integrations with multiple log sources.""Mainly, this is a cloud-native product. So, there are zero concerns about managing the whole infrastructure on-premises.""The connectivity and analytics are great.""The ability of all these solutions to work together natively is essential. We have an Azure subscription, including Log Analytics. This feature automatically acts as one of the security baselines and detects recommendations because it also integrates with Defender. We can pull the sysadmin logs from Azure. It's all seamless and native."

"The product has a valuable interface.""The most valuable feature of ArcSight Intelligence is a single console where the entire dashboard gives all the connected details in a single place.""We found the correlation engine to be very good. It takes logs from different types of devices and does the correlation in a good way.""The ability to tailor an environment to suit our specific use cases is a major advantage of ArcSight compared to other logging servers such as Splunk."

"It gives us a bird's eye view of what's happening from our connection's point of view.""I have no concerns about the stability of the product. I feel it handles the stress we put on it very well.""We have used it many times to find a root cause of a live issue, then fix the problem in the applications.""With this tool, we provide access to every developer team the ability to find errors, then they come to us and ask for specific help.""For many of our services, we use Sumo Logic to track errors and send notifications to our Slack channel, if there are issues. Then, we have our support people monitoring this, and they can react quickly.""Sumo Logic is an easy solution to use. You can set it up very quickly, and it includes a lot of training videos.""The features I found valuable with the Sumo Logic Security solution are the search option and the ability to customize the search for the information in the logs.""The solution is quite stable."

Cons
"Documentation is the main thing that could be improved. In terms of product usage, the documentation is pretty good, but I'd like a lot more documentation on Kusto Query Language.""There are certain delays. For example, if an alert has been rated on Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, it might take up to an hour for that alert to reach Sentinel. This should ideally take no more than one or two seconds.""In terms of features I would like to see in future releases, I'm interested in a few more use cases around automation. I do believe a lot of automation is available, and more is in progress, but that would be my area of interest.""Sometimes, we are observing large ingestion delays. We expect logs within 5 minutes, but it takes about 10 to 15 minutes.""If their UI was a bit more streamlined and easy to find when I need it, then that would be a great improvement.""The learning curve could be improved. I am still learning it. We were able to implement the basic features to get them up and running, but there are still so many things that I don't know about all its features. They have a lot of features that we have not been able to use or apply. If they could work on reducing the solution's learning curve, that would be good. While there is a training course held by Microsoft to learn more about this solution, there is a cost associated with it.""The only thing is sometimes you can have a false positive.""There is some relatively advanced knowledge that you have to have to properly leverage Sentinel's full capabilities. I'm thinking about things like the creation of workbooks, how you do threat-hunting, and the kinds of notifications you're getting... It takes time for people to ramp up on that and develop a familiarity or expertise with it."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"The dashboard is not user-friendly and is in black and white.""ArcSight Intelligence is a bit slower, and its speed should be improved.""ArcSight Intelligence's pricing needs improvement.""The frequency of the updates that we are getting can be improved because the number and types of incidents that are happening at the global level are far more than what we are receiving. The frequency of updates feeds related to our rules should be increased. There should be more frequent information about the new rules that are coming and the global threats that are happening. There should be better options for dashboard creation. At present, the dashboards are good, but there is scope to make them better."

More ArcSight Intelligence Cons →

"We would like to have some type of predefined setup for the logs, making the setup easier by default.""From the network segmentation side, there is some discrepancy in log onboarding. The tool needs to improve direct API integrations, login integration, native login integration, etc.""Sumo Logic needs to make sure integrating solutions are seamless.""The solution should improve its UI.""There needs to be improvement on imported data which can be used within Sumo Logic to do more advanced queries.""I would like to see improvement in the user experience when configuring things, ingesting logs, and creating ports.""If you look at some of the other offerings right now that are available in the market, they do offer APM as well as the product they're offering. I believe Sumo Logic is not there yet. So that's something which I would love to see.""If you want to up your subscription through the AWS Marketplace, it can be difficult. You can't just go back to the AWS Marketplace, and say, "I want a bigger one now." You have to contact the sales team, then they do it on the back-end. This could definitely be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "Its price is average and not very high. Splunk might be a bit cheaper than this. Its licensing is on a monthly basis."
  • "The solution is expensive and only suitable for enterprise environments."
  • "ArcSight Intelligence is an expensive solution."
  • "It is an expensive platform."

  • "Purchasing Sumo Logic through the AWS Marketplace was a simple step."
  • "Purchasing the solution through the AWS Marketplace is very easy."
  • "We chose to go through the AWS Marketplace because it makes it a lot easier when we bill our customers. Rather than having to get multiple different sources of information then correlate a monthly bill for our customers, it is just included in the AWS usage charges."
  • "The AWS Marketplace pricing is fairly reasonable for what it does. I wouldn't call it expensive, but I wouldn't call it cheap. It is pretty good."
  • "The only limit to the scalability of the product for us is how much we are willing to pay."
  • "The price scaling comes in a bit expensive."
  • "Pricing has been cheaper than some of the competing tools, like Splunk."
  • "If we went to ELK Stack, which is open source, it would have been less costly, but it would have required more development from our side."
