Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The analytics are great.""It's pretty stable.""All the metrics are baselines in networks, infrastructure, application, and user experience. AppDynamics offers its own query language. It is called ADQL. You can write code of any kind to do queries and analysis and you can use those within the reporting or within other research.""Provides good overall application performance and transaction errors.""Application Analytics' most valuable features are the real-user monitoring and the agents installed in the software stack on the application server.""We had no issues with scalability. It was very good for us.""Immediately allows you to see the relationships between the different nodes."

"Operations Analytics provides statistics, so it's like the dashboard in your car that tells you the temperature, RPMs, etc, and if something goes wrong in your car, a warning light comes on. So in analytics, you set thresholds for the thread count, and it sends you an email when it reaches a certain amount.""We can integrate different environments, including development, quality, and production. You can open implementation projects, define users' roles, manage training, design, and store all project-related documentation. Before going live, there's a checklist and cutover plan. Configuration moves from development to quality, then production, to ensure everything runs smoothly. Once in production, the platform tracks system performance, open cases, maintenance, upgrades, and new features. You can monitor everything through dashboards, reports, event notifications, and support tickets, both internally and with SAP."

Cons
"This is an expensive solution.""The challenge in the installation is that you have to configure a lot of things manually. The way you install and configure it is not straightforward.""The user experience is quite confusing. There are too many different development stages. The UI is not very intuitive.""Customization requires a few manual tweaks.""The initial setup is a bit complex.""Application Analytics' performance in pure and native cloud environments could be improved.""This feature needs to be properly described to a client, and then the client needs to have a use case. There are some clients which do not need it and some clients who do. It is not for everyone and is dependant on their use case."

"The solution works well, but we need better project planning. Accessing some features is a bit complicated, and we're waiting for improvements from SAP. It should also improve integration.""It would be great to have a monitoring tool that could implement conditional solutions like this. Right now, it comes up with the indicators, but it doesn't necessarily send the lower-level technician to the right spot."

    Overview

Application Analytics refers to the real-time analysis and visualization of automatically collected and correlated data to get insights into IT operations, customer experience and business outcomes. With this next generation of IT operations analytics platform, IT and business users are empowered to quickly answer more meaningful questions than ever before, all in real-time.

SAP IT Operations Analytics gives you holistic visibility into your entire hardware and appli-cation landscape by aggregating data sources within one layer. Network topology, system log data, and external message catalogs can now be combined to provide one comprehen-sive view of the network. This helps your IT department detect incidents more quickly. SAP IT Operations Analytics integrates data sources from different layers so logs from multiple layers can be combined into one consistent, simplified data model. The sources of data can include services, applica-tions, operating systems, or even end-user devices at the top. They can go so deep as to include data from servers, the network, or storage – including sensors – in the data center, making the IT department can now correlate data patterns from multiple streams with extreme efficiency to find root causes to problems.
