What is our primary use case?
I use the product to monitor some servers and desktop PCs on my internal network.
Mainly, I use it to get notified of certain events, like a server being offline, or a certain service being stopped, or when my public IP address changes.
It also does things like monitor event logs for certain events, monitor for disk space usage, memory usage and CPU usage, and so on.
There are many things it is able to monitor that I really haven't needed to use for my purposes, such as managing updates, remote access, and more.
How has it helped my organization?
It has been very helpful to get notifications about various issues with my servers and network to help me take action to resolve problems before they become major issues. For example, if my remote support server goes down, I want to know about this before I need to use my remote support system to access a customer's computer in an emergency.
I don't have many outages in my environment, however, when I do, I want to know about it as soon as possible. Pulseway sends notifications directly to my phone, so I always know when issues arise.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is getting notifications on my phone whenever there is an issue in my internal network.
It has also been helpful to use the features which allow me to monitor activity on my computers or to reboot a computer remotely.
There are so many things Pulseway can do. However, I have not really had a need for most of the features. My internal network is fairly simple with 2 Hyper-V servers running six or eight VMs. Things are fairly stable in my environment, so I haven't needed to get too sophisticated with Pulseway.
What needs improvement?
It would be nice if it also had a desktop application, similar to the phone app, which would allow me to monitor and control computers from my desktop. It's nice to be able to do things remotely using my phone; however, in many cases, it would be very helpful to be able to do things from a desktop or laptop computer. This would be especially useful for things like remote access to computers. It's too hard to do much on a Windows computer using a tiny phone screen. Being able to do things from a desktop or laptop computer would be much more productive.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for ten years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have never had any problems with it being unstable or unreliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I only have experience with using it in a very small network. It seems like it should scale up. That said, I have not tried it.
How are customer service and support?
I have not had any opportunity to use customer service or support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
This was my first remote monitoring application.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward. However, if you start looking into all the possible options for monitoring and alerting, you can easily get carried away with the almost endless possibilities.
What about the implementation team?
The setup was handled in-house.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
There are many things you can monitor with Pulseway. It is easy to get carried away with trying to set up the endless list of conditions you can monitor and get alerted about. You can easily spend way too many hours on it.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
No, I did not evaluate other options.
What other advice do I have?
It's a good solution for monitoring servers/computers/networks from your mobile device. However, the lack of a desktop monitoring/management app may be less than ideal for many situations.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
