A stable and scalable tool that serves as a great database
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
  • "HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is not compatible with third-party tools."

What is our primary use case?

The main purpose of HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric for me is that it acts as a database. In my company, we store our data with the help of HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric. It is possible to use Spark engine with HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric. HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is also useful for data processing and data ingestion.

What is most valuable?

HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric can be described as a complete platform or as an end-to-end solution. I think it is one of the best platforms with all the required capabilities at the moment.

What needs improvement?

There are some drawbacks in HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric when it comes to the interoperability part. HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is not compatible with third-party tools. For example, HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is not compatible with Informatica and one other tool, but considering my company's use cases, we tried but failed with the integration part. The aforementioned areas can be considered for improvement in the solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

There are around 200 to 300 users of HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric in my company.

My company does not plan to increase the number of users of the solution.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's technical support is good. My company only witnessed one problem with HPE's technical support team, and that was when they were unable to upgrade the cluster.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previous experience with Oracle Big Data and Cloudera. My company chose HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric over Oracle Big Data and Cloudera since we found it to be more competitive and faster than the other two tools. HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric was cheaper than Oracle Big Data and Cloudera. HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric provides users with out-of-the-box applications. Data containerization is one of the aspects that my company found to be useful in HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric. HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric provided a full combination of whatever was required in a solution, even for smaller applications.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is easy.

I am not sure how long it took to deploy HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric, but I haven't heard about any disadvantages when it comes to the time taken for the deployment. I remember that one of our company's clients who had purchased the product never mentioned the product's setup phase being complex.

One of the drawbacks with HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric stems from the fact that the product's upgrade was not straightforward, and it was a complex process since one of the teams in my company who deals with the tool found the upgrade part to be tough.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

My company has two dedicated staff members to look after the deployment and maintenance phases of HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a need for my company to pay for the licensing costs of the solution.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the product to those who plan to use it.

I rate the overall product between seven and a half to eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

An easy to scale solution but needs to improve user-friendliness
Pros and Cons
  • "My customers find the product cheaper compared to other solutions. The previous solution that we used did not have unified analytics like the runtime or the analog."
  • "The product is not user-friendly."

What is most valuable?

My customers find the product cheaper compared to other solutions. The previous solution that we used did not have unified analytics like the runtime or the analog.

What needs improvement?

The product is not user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the product for three months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product is easy to scale out and scale in. I would rate the product's scalability a five out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The tool's support is good but the turnaround time is really slow.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The tool's installation is not easy and automatic. You need to have some specific knowledge to complete the installation. The tool's installation takes around one week to complete and we would need two people to handle it. The solution's maintenance is free for one year. One person is enough to handle the maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool's price is cheap and based on a usage basis. The solution's licensing costs are yearly and there are no extra costs.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the product a nine out of ten. The tool is a fabulous solution to compare with the others. Though there is a difficulty in installing the product the first time, after that it is easy.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
