Useful for not only monitoring hybrid and cloud environments but also traditional data centers
Pros and Cons
  • "The tool is quite easy to deploy, and it offers very good support."
  • "The product's reporting functionalities have certain shortcomings, making it an area where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company mainly for infrastructure monitoring.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of the solution stem from the fact that it is an agentless tool, and users have ScienceLogic PowerPacks available for most of the technologies. The tool is quite easy to deploy, and it offers very good support.

What needs improvement?

The product's reporting functionalities have certain shortcomings, making it an area where improvements are required. The tool is more or less good. The tool needs to improve its APM capabilities.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ScienceLogic for three years.

How are customer service and support?

The response or turnaround time from the support team is quick. If my company contacts the support team, they set up a Webex session or Microsoft Team meeting at our convenient time to provide help. I rate the technical support a ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My company needs additional reporting tools like IBM Cognos or Tableau. My company uses additional reporting tools to extract data and then design the reports per the customers' requirements. If users of ScienceLogic get features similar to those offered by other reporting tools, it would be great.

What about the implementation team?

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

The solution can be deployed in a day.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My company has an enterprise-level contract with ScienceLogic, so it is available to my organization at a good price.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is useful for monitoring hybrid environments, clouds, and traditional data centers.

From a cloud perspective, we use the tool's very basic features as per our company's requirements. In our company, the tool helps us with the KPIs we plan to achieve.

Right now, my company usually goes for about five minutes porting into it, so we use it as a tool that provides us something near real-time monitoring.

My company doesn't use ScienceLogic's features, though it has good automation features. Our company uses Ansible for all automation, and we have integrated ScienceLogic with Ansible.

ScienceLogic sends events to IBM Netcool, where events are handled through event automation.

In terms of the reporting and analytics part, whatever out-of-the-box or default reports are available can be useful to some extent. There are times when there is a requirement for some additional customizations to serve our company's purposes in the area of reporting.

The tool improves our company's response time to incidents.

I recommend the product to those who plan to use it.

From the monitoring perspective, the tool fulfills my requirements.

I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

A stable solution for monitoring networks, applications, and server environments but lacks functionalities

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for monitoring networks, applications, and server environments.

What is most valuable?

ScienceLogic has all functions in one solution.

What needs improvement?

The user interface could be improved. The sizing and footprints of the central environment need improvement, too.

The solution lacks functionality. The main issue is the granularity of user management.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ScienceLogic for three months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The footprint and complexity of ScienceLogic can require significant memory, CPU, and disk space. This can lead to overloaded servers and components, resulting in a sluggish user interface.

A total of 400 users are using this solution.

I rate the solution’s scalability a six out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

We had very limited contact with customer support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I can compare it with Broadcom. ScienceLogic is cheaper with less functionality.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very complex.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

ScienceLogic comes with a good price.

I rate the product’s pricing a ten out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate the solution a six out of ten.
