Basically if you want to run any oracle database or packaged product OVM is compatible. If its windows OVM runs in HVM ( hardware emulated mode) which is not as good as PVM in some respects .
Both are similar in features however if this is for ODA appliance then you should know that currently no management is offered and everything is converted to VM via Oracles Virtual Box.

This is not a complete comparison because it does not list all of the applications that VMware supports. Most of the Windows applications, VMware supports (there are updates that need to be made but this gives an apples to apples comparison - www.ombud.com
