Spring 2018 update. When we started using TLS1.2 /ephemeral-key-encryption AppResponse became useless for us as far as web page analysis goes. Still works for back-end unencrypted traffic and TCP throughput type monitoring/troubleshooting.

According to Riverbed a resolution is on the roadmap but they have no date set look to into the issue. We had been discussing this with Riverbed for a while and am somewhat surprised they

let an opportunity like this slip away.

We are reviewing the Ixia Vision One SecureStack solution and possibly feed that output to AppResponse should we decide to keep it. It should be noted this is an issue for all NPB based NPM/AMP appliances and apps.

All this has been addressed in the new version and a corresponding update for ATX is coming as well.

I find the ability to find anomalous or unusual behavior is frustrating. The built in charts art quite old and there is only a few features such as 95th percentile to try to statistically look at the data. If you are collecting any amount of data, surfing through becomes a multi minute chore. Pulling metrics for a Business group longer than a day and less and an hour granularity will give you time to walk to the coffee room. Unfortunately this data apparently isn\'t cached so jumping views of metrics is starting over at square one and if you didn\'t export or screenshot the first set of data - revistiting it is just as long. I bellieve AppResponse Xpert is long over due for a revamping and overhaul with a focus on performance of the appliance in querying the data and a better integration with analytics. Exporting to AppTransaction Xpert is not suitable for anything other than a single 5-10 minute transaction that MUST NOT exceed 200MB to be efficient. In aquiring the OPNET products Riverbed has been challenged repeatedly to fit them into a grand view. Leaving ATX without an update in two years is not cutting edge and the industry is in flux as SaaS , Cloud, PaaS and other distributed infrastructures are brought online and into production. The old Client - Server model is rapidly changing and when you factor in FaaS and the emergent cloud functions this becomes even more complicated. While I appreciate some of the efficiencies of ATX for multi-tier correlation, something that WIreshark is inherently unsuited to tackle I cannot recommend that AppResponse is a right fit for a large organization or one projected to grow in the next two years.
